Merillat Review by a Professional Remodeler
December 01, 2014
Did you use a stained finish or did you use a painted (white) door? The show room display cabinets that are painted have a rougher texture than the stained doors.

VERY Bad, STAY AWAY
November 14, 2014
Sounds like a designer issue to me. All your issues are from poor communication from your designer and lack of product knowledge by that same designer. Decora' provides all the tools for a supplier to be successful. It is up to them to use them properly and give the client what they ordered. They have some of the best customer service and are willing to walk you through the order cabinet by cabinet. This is a perfect example of when a JOB GOES SIDEWAYS IT CAN'T BE BROUGHT BACK. I would imagine the actual quality of your cabinets is good, but since all the other issues have come about you can't see that and I do understand your point.

Homecrest white thermofoil
November 12, 2014
Why wouldn't you go to the dealer you purchased them from? I work for a dealer and Homecrest customer service has always gone above and beyond to rectify any problem we've had with any of their products. They've even gone so far as to send a sales rep out to the job site to personally replace doors that the homeowner was displeased with. Sounds like you're problem is a crummy dealer.

Awful cabinets - less than one year old and no longer close properly
October 30, 2014
I'm just posting this so people get the real deal. It's been a while since this gentlemen wrote this article but just For anybody purchasing cabinets in a humid environment.
I didn't hear anybody asking this gentleman what door style he bought. The experienced people up top in the previous two comments should've asked if it was a slab door style. If it was its designer error. For anybody wondering slab door style is a flat door and if it's made out of solid wood rather than a veneer it will warp badly.

It not the same as any of the woods the gentleman mentioned. A slab door is one solid piece of wood the other doors in his house and his moldings are either fiber board or made out of multiple pieces of wood so they can expand and contract. You might've even wanted to ask how call the doors are.Fact customer, designer of 17 years this is an education in customer service. Ask the right questions instead of jumping all over this poor man for making mistakes. The mistakes could be designer, manufacturer or customer.

If you're in a humid area of the country. Do not buy a solid wood cabinet door or a door over 42 inches tall. I would even keep the width of the doors 21 or less. Hope this helps somebody.

Merillat Basics are junk!
September 19, 2014
We also had the option of the Merillat Basic line. Our designer did stray us away from that line though as she said the price was extremely low, the quality & options were not there & that reflected with the low price. I guess you get what you pay for.

LOVE My Medallion Cabinets
August 29, 2014
You were one of the lucky ones! We ordered their gold line with the plywood upgrade. We would have ordered the Platinum, however we didn't like seeing the hinges on the door fronts. Our order was $18,000 and not a single cabinet out of the box was good. All of them had cracks, open miters on every drawer & door front. The range hood was so bad that we never removed it from the box. They will not honor their own warranty and are only willing to give us $5,000 credit on our $18,000 order. You were very lucky indeed!! #medallioncabinetsfail #medallioncabinets

Would have been so much better if you would have rated the cabinets based on the cabinets; not write bad marks because you were mad about the overcharging on the trim.

I can't believe I stumbled on this review. This is one of the most difficult customers I have ever had to deal with. StarMark did take care of the issue even though her installation was not the best. She has done two kitchens with me, both incredibly beautiful, and I gave her service she would not have received elsewhere and at an incredible price as well. It is unfair when one can not give the other side of the story. She is difficult. Period. And some people will never be happy

bothered by quality of service
June 12, 2014
I am very shocked by this review when I read it. I've been selling Starmark Cabinets for over 20 years, and one of the many reasons why is there impeccable customer service. This sounds to me like the quality of service should of been more directed at the cabinet design center they were purchased at. In the kitchen design world you encounter many obstacles, when the project goes through without any problems that is fantastic but when they don't you do your very best to get it resolved to the customers satisfaction. Starmark has always had my back!!!

Custom Cabinets by Wood Mode
June 08, 2014
We moved into our 138 year old house in 1984. The kitchen had been redone in 1980. The former owners used Wood Mode cabinets. These cabinets have stood up to the test of time for the last 30 years. They are not my style, but the quality is outstanding! Hopefully I can use this brand in our new home.

Very Disappointed Poor Quality for Any Price
May 30, 2014
I don't believe your story. I have ordered same product and too did have a few minor issues but had an immediate response from Dura and they replaced. THey were easy to work with. All cabinets will have issues, just a fact. If you haven't had a response your haven't contacted the right people. Or you maybe one of those businesses who like to fake post negative comments for your own gain...

Awful cabinets - less than one year old and no longer close properly
May 30, 2014
your are an idiot. These are wood cabinets and humidity is the worst thing for them.. Thats common sense. Cheaper cabinets are a better choice because of less wood. If you like in a humid climate educate yourself and stop blaming others. actual WOOD SWELLS….DUH

American Woomark not what you want.
April 30, 2014
As a licensed GC of over thirty years I have personally installed hundreds of boxes) over the years of all degrees of quality from high to low.

I totally agree with the comments above.

These cabinets, in Quality Control/ Quality Assurance are below bad!

I have had my latest install, ordered by my clients from Home Depot, have 2 cabinets split apart as there were not sufficient fasteners/glue to keep them together. Also sent wrong brackets for slides.

Absolutely ridiculous that this should happen in this day and age.

AVOID THESE CABINETS AT ALL COSTS OR THEY WILL COST YOU BIG BUCKS AND AGGRAVATION!!!!!

Awful cabinets - less than one year old and no longer close properly
March 24, 2014
I have been a designer for 17 years...your bad review of a good cabinet is misleading to the public. Wood products absorb moisture in the air, which make them expand...they shrink back when the air is less humid. Its my experience that some consumers want what they want and even when I educate them or try to show them better options, they still want what they want because that's what they show in magazines...
You live near the ocean, its a case of extreme humidity, you should have been educated by your sales person that inset cabinets was not advisable. Or if you insisted he should have made you sign a waiver. If you had put central a/c in, you would not have had this issue.

Sorry for your bad experience, but its not at all a case that this cabinetry was "AWFUL"

Run from this poor quality
March 13, 2014
I have the Shenadoah Shaker style in white. My cabinets turned yellow too. The thermofoil peeled off all of the doors. I fought with Lowes and the rep from American Woodmark. I received a second set. They stayed white, but they would not give me any new doors even though there was a verbal agreement with Jason the rep to get me a new doors. Lowe's did me justice though and gave me back $2000 of the $4000 I spent. But again no new doors since I signed an agreement to not ask for anything else. I was not able to switch out any lower yellowed cabinets because they would not pay to remove the counter top. That would have cost me over $1000, so I donated those to Habitat. Now I am going to rip these out and get new cabinets again. Very poor quality cabinets. It really disappoints me that I have to do this again and have to spend my tax refund again doing the kitchen.

I wish I had read this before I bought my Decora Cabinets. I have had so many issues with the doors... The wrong size, chipped corners, halo effect - this being the one that makes me the most upset because Decora is very deceitful. They claim everything is wood on their doors, they are 20-30% more expensive then other companies for this. However the door panels are actually MDF, not even a wood veneer! They claimed this is done to avoid halo. I prefer halo with wood than halo with MDF. Don't know what will them how to make good quality cabinets and stop deceiving people.

Could not agree more. No one is standing behind the quality of the product. Finish on our cabinets is very poor quality that started peeling before installation, frames are bent. Our attorney is suggesting court action. Not sure if we can get our money back. Just sure of one thing -I do not want them to give us substitute. no need to change bad cabinetry for cabinetry with more problems

I have Diamond cabinets, and when they arrived had multiple damages, warped door, broken corner, and Lowe's came to inspect them but convinced me to keep them. I since have changed my mind and am waiting until the Kitchen Designer gets back to work to call me and get them picked up. I called Lowes Customer Care and all they did was promise me something they have yet to deliver, and cause grief for the designer who had nothing to do with the poor craftmanship of the cabinets. I won't buy Diamond again. And am researching all cabinet lines Lowe's carries, and what I am seeing is horror stories about ALL of them. Is this industry just lacking in every way? How can this be so prevalent in poor product sales to innocent consumers and still be going on after reviews as old as 2006?? Is this the MADE IN USA quality we can expect? No wonder everything is made in China, you go IKEA!

We bought Diamond cabinets and had the same experience. Now trying to return them, through Lowe's, having to wait again for a project that should have concluded in October to now begin in November. Is there anyone out there selling cabinets with integrity? Why do Made In USA businesses have such lousy product...?!

Thomasville Cabinetry
September 29, 2013
overall rating 1/2 star. at the time I placed my order I was told all Thomasville cabinets were made with plywood construction. that was a lie! short of the top corner cabinets with glass front they were all constructed with particle board, after 5 weeks lead time I was extremely disappointed with the craftsmanship. the cabinets were not square, or level, and I feared even if I did install them they would fall off the walls and injure myself or my family. when did American craftsmanship become so poor? my only guess is they just don't care! after 5 more weeks of waiting (was promised 3weeks they lied again!)the cabinets that needed to be replaced from poor construction arrived. to my horror again more poorly built cabinets. a 1/4" variance between a 42"span is horrific, but nothing a maul hammer couldn't fix right Thomasville? not that you seem to care. so Buyer Beware!

Very Disappointed Poor Quality for Any Price
September 06, 2013
There are serious problems with the quality of the drawers.
Dovetail joints have gaps and have rough edges with splinters of wood. Also half the the dovetail edges are raw with no finish. Some of the ends of the drawers have already splintered off.

So they don't build their own drawers, are drawers that have been out-sourced suppose to be of such poor quality? They shouldn't be if they sell them What you get isn't what you are shown in the showroom. Notice how the displays are set up. Try to view the undersides & backsides if you are allowed to. How many times do they actually show you the exterior of the drawers....the backs, sides & bottom of drawers or the interior side of a door?
Look at these when you get them. Have you seen the interior side of a door at the time of purchase, without the stickers &reading material pasted to it?
It's one thing if you are able to view inferior quality & see it with your own eyes but when it is a surprise to see what you get, it throws you for a loop.
Painted doors are dramatically different from the outside front to the inside. Ask how these are painted, be specific as to how many coats of primer, base coats, & top coats each side gets.
The exterior of the doors & drawer fronts are not given the same coats of finish, so when you think you can see through the paint on the interior side of the door, you are correct. It may take talking to multiple reps to have them finally listen. It's too bad that they send out the quality that they do, then depend on the warranty to patch the irregularities, when it could be avoided in the first place.
Be prepared when your store salesman comes, he'll be pretty much on board with you but when the company rep comes, hang on, it will be a different story. Stick to the points you have specified, it isn't what you were sold or what you were shown in the showroom. It doesn't matter what they cost, the the delivered product wasn't what you were shown & contracted to buy, at all. Nobody should have to stress out over this.

I bought this house 6 years ago , the previous owner had installed Kraftmaid kitchen cabinet before the sale of his house.
2 days ago one of the cabinet door falling down on my wife.I call Kraftmaid.
I was told, since I am not the original owner, they are not covered by warranty.
I ask if they have a local service man that I can use, they said no.
I said then if I am the original owner, how are you going to repair the
cabinet door. they do not answer.
