We had a new home built in 2018 and Kitchen Craft were the custom installers selected by the Builder. We selected a white finish which we believed would be neutral and would not be dated quickly. When not choosing a wood option (oak, cherry, maple, etc. And not a veneer) these cabinets are built out of particleboard. For this option I would say the value to quality ratio is not that high but it works well enough. The fit and finish are quite decent but there are imperfections here and there, which are minor and can be overlooked. We selected an option with rollout shelving which is very convenient. The shelving and hardware are quite durable and work well. The flaw lies in how the hardware is mounted to the cabinet. They use two mounts on the front and a single mount on the back of each rail. They need to have two mounts on the back of the rail instead of one. When you load up the shelving with weight the screws work themselves out, particularly where there is only one mount. If you don’t catch it in time, as we did not, the screw will pull out of the particleboard and destroy it. Where are you do catch it in time, you will be constantly tightening the screws for the mounts. This is required on a weekly basis. Do you want that kind of maintenance? If the particleboard tears because the screw is too loose, your options are limited. Kitchen Craft’s recommendation is for the owner (not Kitchen craft during the warranty period) to put in a bigger/longer screw if there is an adjacent panel into which the screw can “bite”. I ended up having to drill a larger diameter hole, install a wood plug, and re-drill the hole for the screw. In my opinion all the screws should be glued in place during fabrication, or assembly. This way they don’t work themselves out and there is little chance of the particleboard tearing apart. In this respect the particleboard construction would be adequate. Overall, the cabinets look very nice, function well (except for the installation of the shelf rails), and we are satisfied. If you order these style of cabinets, I highly recommend removing all the roll of shelving and glueing in all the screws before use. Particleboard is pretty standard material to use, but they need to pay attention to the execution of assembly. This, in my opinion, is where they fell short. There are other cabinet makers that can definitely build better but likely cost more too.
