Just unboxed the first piece of our new custom spec'd bathroom cabinets. The quality is horrible! Warped cabinet door. Crooked drawer front. Lots of particle board, though we 'upgraded' to the plywood option. The door and drawer fronts don't actually close on the frame, but are built to stop almost 1/4" away on thick rubber bumpers (if they closed flush with the frame that would only make the defects more obvious). Soft close mechanisms that don't close all the way. Could this possibly be worse? I don't think so. I'm told we can't get our money back since this is a custom order. I totally agree with the reviewer who found it hard to imagine that a company would actually put their name on something this bad. I'd like to throw this stuff in the dumpster, but that stops our renovation cold and throws away thousands of dollars.

Our goal at KitchenCabinetsReviews is to provide honest reviews of many different cabinet brands. This review is deserving of an editor response for several reasons.

1. Wood is a natural substance...it warps. All cabinet makers have to contend with this issue and replacing a door will not delay a job.
2. All cabinet makers use rubber bumpers on their doors and drawers to dampen the sound and impact when they are closed. Not to hide defects!
3. Drawer fronts are made to be adjusted, just as the doors are, and it is up to the cabinet installer to adjust these. This is common with EVERY cabinet brand and the adjustment should be the last thing done on any renovation.
4. If your cabinets include "lots of Particle board" even though you ordered plywood, there could be an issue with the contractor not ordering the cabinets correctly. We suggest confirming what was ordered with the cabinet manufacturer.
5. Soft close drawers also need to be adjusted when the drawers are reinstalled after the job is complete. Confirm they are fully locked in and they will function properly. If they don't, the manufacturer should be there to replace any defective parts.

Homecrest is a large cabinet maker and given the opportunity, they will take care of your issues. In many cases the problem is directly related to the contractor.
