Wellborn: Buyer Beware: Poor Quality and Zero Accountability from Wellborn Cabinets

Kitchen Cabinets

I invested over $80,000 in Wellborn cabinets for a full kitchen remodel, trusting their reputation for high-quality, American-made products. What I received, however, was deeply disappointing — both in terms of product quality and customer service.
Right out of the box, there were glaring quality issues. The paint finish was inconsistent, with visible rub marks, blemishes, and thin coverage that left areas of raw wood exposed. Several cabinets arrived with cracked frames, and the $80-per-can touch-up spray paint was not even a close match to the cabinet color.
Even more troubling, some drawer faces had staple holes punched right through the front, clearly a manufacturing defect. When replacements were sent, they were noticeably darker than the rest of the cabinetry, leaving us with mismatched, uneven finishes.
After raising concerns through our contractor, the Wellborn Account Manager West and District Sales Manager visited our home. They spent time documenting over 100 photos of finish flaws, structural damage, and poor workmanship. A formal report was prepared — and then five months passed with no resolution.
Despite the overwhelming evidence, Wellborn ultimately refused to take any corrective action. No replacements, no repairs, not even a partial remedy. I attempted to escalate the issue by contacting the Director of Customer Service multiple times — via voicemail, email, and even LinkedIn — but received no response. I gave them a full week to respond, hoping for some good faith effort to make things right, and was completely ignored.
At this point, my only recourse is to warn other homeowners and remodelers. If you're considering Wellborn cabinets, think very carefully before investing your money. What should have been a dream kitchen turned into months of frustration, empty promises, and ultimately, a brand that refused to stand behind its product.
Wellborn markets itself as a premium cabinet maker, but what I experienced was subpar craftsmanship and a complete lack of accountability. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

About 13 years after installation almost all of the upper cabinets have developed a crack down the middle, and several of the lower cabinets have their laminate completely peeling. These cabinets came with a lifetime warrantee for repair and replacement. Schrock refused to honor their warrantee and after about six hours of time arguing, sending pictures, sending the invoice, etc. we gave up. I will never buy Schrock products again.

My cabinets look like they were stained in a junior high school shop class. We are soon crossing a one year mark on obtaining a resolution for finish issues.

I had to get an attorney. I had file a complaint with the BBB. I have countless hours tied up in this problem and we are not done yet. None of this should be part of a simple kitchen remodel but here we are.

In life, there are some mistakes you cannot fully recover from. Buying Diamond cabinets from Lowes appears to be one of those.

They advertise as a great alternative to wood for a cheaper price but longer life. We have had doors that have started to peel apart and lose their paint within 8 years. The so called lifetime warranty is not even close to that. They made sure to say that normal wear and tear is not covered. Not sure how doors start to split apart like cardboard is considered normal wear and tear. Quality of these doors and the durability leave these cabinets best suited for the landfill. Stay away from Evercore!

Yorktowne Cabinetry: Disaster Cabinets, Run...

Yorktowne is no longer a family owned company. It’s a bit confusing, are they part of ACPI or Cabinetworks group? My husband and I are developers, having spent nearly $3M to develop a custom luxury property with the intent to sell within two years. While sourcing cabinets we were talked into Yorktowne by a Yorktowne Seller, Hughes Prosource, aka: Cabinet Outlet, in Venice Florida who it turns out had never actually worked with the line and was not trained on the line. The number of mistakes is beyond acceptable but more so, the quality of Yorktowne is shocking and embarrassing and does not match the money you pay for them. An inexcusable amount of cabinets arrived with either damage or such poor quality workmanship we could tell originated from the factory that the items should have never shipped. A large majority of cabinets to be the same color finish were a range of tones, not a consistent color. Cabinets were sent with missing parts, not complete in the finish and several cabinets actually had snot with chunks and nostril hairs smeared on them, true story! An insult and a disgrace. The problems were so great that we insisted the Yorktowne rep get involved, which made it worse. The Seller told us the rep was involved with the order the entire process, however the rep said she had no knowledge of the order until she was notified of our issues. The rep came onsite and then met a second time to remedy the issues and from there Yorktowne began to warranty cabinets by sending out damaged or wrong replacements. It got to the point that Cabinetworks Group had to send their regional manager onsite to see what was going on. On that visit the regional manager said “Cabinetworks is the Walmart of cabinets”, something that did not sit well with us. It seemed like an excuse for the poor quality and incompetence of everyone involved. Furthermore, their Seller, Hughes Prosource, owner Michael Hughes is a cabinet con man who it turns out changes his business name every several years likely to cover his sins. He told us our cabinets being warrantied are required to be shipped back to Yorktowne and he showed up to our construction site and stole the cabinets that he has never replaced and refuses to replace. As of now he is in possession of approximately $60k in cabinets we paid for but do not have. He was dumb enough to take a photo of them in a non-conditioned uhaul style trailer and send it to our lawyer. Proof of his possession! This Sellers Disaster Designer, Karen Creglow also informed us of the following when I asked what they do if we pay cash for the balance: they adjust the orders to remove any amount paid for in cash because they don’t claim cash transactions. They have done this as long as she’s been employed and the owner, Michael Hughes gives her a cut. So basically this cabinet seller for Yorktowne is engaging on tax fraud also! As of this review, we have gone elsewhere, setting up a contractor account, to order the cabinets at the proper cost we should have paid for starters, however, still paying twice now, and to receive the cabinets Yorktowne and their Seller refuse to fix. Lawyers are involved and Cabinetworks Group, being the billion dollar company they are seems to be delusional about what they owe, what they are responsible for and they just flat out do not care. They believe they have created just enough distance between them and the end user through their "Sellers" and they are too big and too rich to have to care. We have since gone back and read an overwhelming number of awful reviews on the Yorktowne cabinets for quality and warranty that we wish we would have found prior to being talked into this brand. They are way overpriced, poor quality and an awful brand to work with. I would recommend running from being conned into giving your money to Yorktowne or any of the Cabinetworks Group or ACPI cabinet brands. Fortunately, we are able to waste money that we should not have to spend twice but most people do not have that ability. I would not want to see someone else be taken like we were. If any authorized Seller of Yorktowne tells you they are past these issues, they are lying. The Minnesota plant has struggled with workers and quality for quite some time, it turns out. Having come from Minnesota I can only imagine governor Walz has some nonsense agenda or programs to enhance his support and they are sourcing migrant workers who have no clue what they are doing! The company is a disgrace and any Seller who stands by them is just out for their own pocket profit.

They are sending the correct one, I hope, but takes 3 weeks so we can’t proceed and everyone on hold now. Contacted them about compensation for their mistake and was told I have to talk to the place who ordered them for us, which all they did was order them. So frustrating.

There was a crack in the one cabinet spent almost 10,000 on my cabinets. the drawer frame was off the frame of the base. On most cabinets the finish was not that great. We waited about 4-5 weeks for junk. Then had to wait another 4-5 weeks for the replacements that were in the same condition. My husband had to re-drill new holes in the cabinets so we could make sure the rail would be tight since they were stripped. We did not want to take a chance on other replacements since the first two times was not very good at all. I told the rep Dave that there is no way all this damage was done by just delivery service. The screws were stripped because they either made the holes to big or turned them way to much. Then I was told by Dave the rep that we should never have started the kitchen before the cabinets came. Not that I need to explain to him why I did I told him we had to put in a new floor before they came and also had to build onto the drop where we added extra cabinets. He was very rude when I explained since we never got a almost 10,000 quality product we should at least get 1000.00 for the crappy cabinets we had to work with. He first told me 500.00 I said no way then he called back and said 700.00 still not happy with that. We have cabinets that look like crap and cannot return for a full refund. They say these are the top of the line and there is no way these are top quality for the money we paid. I would NOT recommend these cabinets at all they do not stand behind their junk products

One of them was really bad so I asked for a replacements which they sent, but it took a month and a half for us to receive them bad finish on one of them and multiple scratches and a huge hole in the back of one, so when the second shipment arrived with the replacements there was multiple scratches on the doors and again they are going to replace, but it’s going to take a month and a half for us to receive them again when there is a warranty issue they do not fast track so if you have customers that you’re doing stuff for and there’s an issue you can plan on it taking forever to be able to finish your project typically companies that I’ve dealt with in the past, I’ve been relatively eager to make things right as soon as possible, but not Kraftmaid. They’re going to put them in their massive assembly line and I will probably receive more damaged products when I get them. from the time I started installing this cabinet project to the time I finish it if they actually come back with no damage, it will end up being over three months completely unacceptable

Our finishes are meant to be durable, but they are not impervious to these factors, and it is our determination the issues you are seeing are a direct result of that use over time.

Definition of “Durable” from google:

adjective. Something that is durable is strong and lasts a long time without breaking or becoming weaker.

I bought brand “Decora” cabinet for bathroom and laundry room they are as good as the first day.

Paid express delivery within 10 days, received it long after that. When I called to verify why my cabinets are not delivered as promised and I paid for within 10 days delivery, Lowe’s rude sales person told me they shipped it now it is up to shipping company not the cabinet maker. So the shipping co has only one day delivery per week in my area and they delivery when they get full load! Guess what I need to wait loooong before they fill their truck to head on my way. After long wait cabinets arrive, one was damaged, when I called Lowe’s they told me they will give me a credit of $90.00 for the damaged cabinet, when I said I paid over $500.00 for the cabinets they said, sorry management decision! The doors of the cabinets are all warped, the glue are all I’ve the doors and side of the cabinets and bad quality of work. Just stay away from these people!

I usually only give positive reviews because I prefer to settle issues with businesses directly as compromises can usually be reached. However, this manufacturer not only produces poor quality but they do not stand behind their work. Do not be fooled by their warranty as we were as it is “at their discretion.” The hand-wiped glazing is horrible and does not match what’s pictured on their site. Please see pictures of quality of glaze on most of our drawers or doors. The drawers themselves are the worst craftmanship and we’ve had to “reglue” where the bottom edges of the dovetails just came off. See picture of door that was delivered (none of the boxes were damaged). Many of the glide attachments do not hold. On our prior home we ordered cabinets from Lowe’s and they were far, far better quality which is sad because this cabinetry was not cheap.

We received a 2nd replacement glass door 8 weeks later also broken. Numerous shelves and doors bowed. Cabinets are not squared Replacement pieces sent damaged and/or the wrong color. There is no quality control with the amount of pieces leaving the manufacturing facility with this many issues and repeated replacement pieces being damaged. To many issues to detail them all. Would have been better off buying lower end cabinets. Do not buy.

Kraftmaid: CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!!

Kitchen Cabinets

We purchased $78,000 worth of cabinets from Lowe’s. We purchased three different cabinet manufacturers sold by Lowe’s. However, one of the companies, I guess I can go ahead and say it?? oh what the heck… Schuller cabinets. I’m not sure if I spelled that correctly, but we haven’t had any problems with their shipment, in fact, they appear to be much better quality, and no problems receiving order, on the other hand, the two other companies were crap, with Kraftsmaid being the worst! It’s been over two years and we are still awaiting replacement cabinets from either damaged, wrong items sent, or order error on the part of Lowe’s representative. It has become surreal, if I had not lived this whole situation, I would not have believed it!! Starting with water damaged cabinets upon delivery that i reported to Lowe’s both by phone and email and somehow it fell through the cracks, then they didn’t want to replace them bc of time gone by… They then decided to send some of the replacement cabinets, I had to just eat some things because the list was so great. The Lowes representative told me basically I wasn’t getting all that, didn’t really matter bc lowe’s ended up losing them. If you ever receive an email from Lowe’s stating that part of your cabinets have arrived, and Lowe’s tells you they are going to store them until the rest come in to make one delivery… Put your foot down! Tell them no thank you, I will take a partial order and wait on the rest because they can’t keep up with them . It even gets worse, when order finally arrived and was delivered, Lowes was supposed to come back in a few days and pick up the damaged cabinets, but instead of picking up damaged cabinets, they picked up the new cabinets they had just delivered two days prior!!! Can you get any worse Customer Service?!! When I ask for them back, we’re told they were left out in the rain at shipping and receiving. ? our kitchen island is kraftsmaid “white dove high gloss”. You would think since one side is gloss the other side would be gloss as well, so did we, but we thought wrong!! They sent this cheap white flat Formica panel for the side that most people view!! The side facing the barstools. When I asked the sales rep at Lowe’s? Where my panels were that went on the front of the island, he said they don’t make them to fit that, so I said you mean, I have to have a flat sheet particleboard for my main side?? So, about two months ago, they finally sent me a sheet of cheap glossy Formica, that’s not even the right color white! It looks pink and the LED lighting. Unfortunately, my mistake by not pulling it out and actually doing it before my contractor installed it. When I went to inspect his work, ? instead of being in shock,??? I just bursted out in laughter. ? It was better than crying in front of my contractor. Now, I am told by my Lowe’s representative that they need the wrong Formica, that my contractor has already installed, back before they can send me what I need. My husband said he is not about to tear up the entire front and sides of our island to get that cheap <#*!! Formica off. So that’s where we are right now. I am not one to write such a review. I try and give everyone the benefit a break. We are all human and entitled to mistakes, but this is something entirely different. When you get to thinking about how much money you have spent on a project that you were happily anticipating, just to be a big waste is much harder for me to swallow. If I can spare anyone the heartache and disappointment that I haven’t endured these last two years, then it is worth writing this review. It is worth mentioning that I do not put all the blame on kraftsmaid, because Lowe’s definitely has had their part in this ordeal.

Search in your browser : YOUTUBE : REVIEW OF AMERICAN WOODMARK CABINETS AND HOME DEPOT :
American Woodmark Cabinets are sold under a number of different brand names in LOWES, THE HOME DEPOT, and other independant stores. Their brands are_American Woodmark_Shenandoah_ Waypoint Living Spaces_Timberlake Cabinetry_Allen and Roth_Hampton Bay Designer Series_to name a few.
As widely remarked by many others, you need to watch this ! know this stuff ! BEFORE you get drawn into a purchase…..
PLEASE WATCH AND READ IT ALL TO THE END ! IT WILL SAVE YOU MISERY & $$$ !!!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMz9w2zPH6I&t
Review of American Woodmark Cabinets bought from Home Depot. We are experienced Developers and Self Builders. We build houses, commercial properties, flip houses and manage rental properties. This video is our experience in terms of American Woodmark Cabinets in a number of areas
***CHAPTER 1 *** Looks at 'product build quality'.
*** CHAPTER 2 *** Looks at American Woodmark quality standards during production and their quality control. You will see how, not one, but four of our base cabinets had been allowed to have the glue slip during manufacturing. The assembly workers then pin fix the panels that had slipped, such that the vertical edges were uneven like castle parapets or upstands in different planes.
*** CHAPTER 3 *** We discuss American Woodmark 'Misrepresentation through the use of cutaway demonstration units in store at THE HOME DEPOT. The Home Depot Sales and designer team make great use of these cutaways to 'UP-Sell' the purchase of ALL PLYWOOD CONSTRUCTION BOXES.
*** CHAPTER 4 *** we show you our 'Contract of Sale' where we paid an uplift of an additional $1100 with taxes for APC. Why do buyers want APC ? - Answer ; 1. RESISTANCE TO WATER. 2. RESISTANCE TO HUMIDITY. 3. LONGEVITY OF KITCHEN CABINETS. When they were delivered we found our cabinet boxes are constructed using a lamination of engineered particle (hardboard) to all the external surfaces. The construction method used by American Woodmark leaves a raw edge of hardboard, which simply acts like a sponge if it gets wet. You'll see in the video how just a short exposure to wet creates swelling and distortion of the laminate used on the supposed All Plywood Construction after just 5 minutes. The most vulnerable areas are always close to water supplies, and on the inside face of the cabinet out of sight. Any water will always find the board from the inside. The American Woodmark method of using raw hardboard leaves an inevitable vulnerability. You see how several of our cabinets which were also delivered wet, showed swelling, bubbling and distortion of the laminated outer face of the cabinets. If they could be so damaged from getting wet in a rain shower on the day of delivery after the cardboard casements got wet. How do American Woodmark stand behind a product in terms of it's longevity when the external APC faces of their cabinets were so easily damaged ? In the past when I’ve bought APC, it literally IS plywood boxes painted – primed and finish coat or an Egger resin or melamine finish. Tough and durable and repairable.
We spent additional money on doing a waterfall for our Quartz which we had not intended simply because of this damage. American Woodmark Cabinets are sold by the way under a number of different brand names in LOWES, THE HOME DEPOT, and other independant stores. Their brands are_American Woodmark_Shenandoah_ Waypoint Living Spaces_Timberlake Cabinetry_Allen and Roth_Hampton Bay Designer Series_to name a few.
*** CHAPTER 5 *** and *** Chapter 6 *** Shows you cores of the cabinets from when we drilled to accept appliance hoses. We then undertook a ‘Live Water Test to Demonstrate How the APC product held up. It’s laminated with the same thickness of hardboard that American Woodmark supply for installation as Kick Boards. So taking a scrap of this material we subjected it to a wet test. 5 Minutes of exposure to water, and the hardboard veneer used by American Woodmark starts to distort and swell.
*** CHAPTER 7 *** Delivered damaged. During the follow-ups, we learned our cabinets were manually handled ‘3 times between factory and final delivery'. We learned that American Woodmark have literally scores of dedicated agents, dealing with the problems of damaged and mis-manufactured orders. You are going to spend ‘hours and days’ on the phone, cataloguing issues, never talking to the same agent twice !
You see the inadequate packaging, straps cut in as every handling person uses the straps. There are ‘NO FULL LENGTH 90 degree foam lined EDGE PROTECTORS inside of the straps. AMW do use corner protectors, made of hard plastic. However, they are fitted whilst painted surfaces are still curing from production. They cause damage when removed, or some where they had already moved during transit or rough handling. The hard plastic then rubs against the cabinet inside the casement.
*** CHAPTER 8 *** When it’s gone BAD, your troubles are just beginning. These two large corporations are unable to pivot. They are big, slow, not flexible. Your project is compromised. They score NIL on too many areas to list here. We would say to you Home Depot maybe okay for buying an appliance or a light bulb from, but buying a Kitchen from them as American Woodmark’s agent is simply PAINFUL.
HOME DEPT want ALL YOUR MONEY UPFRONT. Clients would walk away if they had only paid a deposit when they see the difference between what’s on the Can and what is ACTUALLY DELIVERED !
Mr Decker HOME DEPOT CEO, very disappointing you were unwilling to address our issues raised to you directly on several occasions. Equally the senior management of American Woodmark would not engage. Another reason to ‘NOT DO BUSINESS’. No Constructive engagement. No moral compass. No following the rules of Consumer Law with the best interests of their customer in mind. It’s like trying to grapple with a fog bank using a cutlass ! We asked for sensible and real excess ‘consequential costs’ we incurred of around $3K. So far HD have refunded $700.
*** CONCLUSION *** If you value ‘Sanity’ and ‘Quality of Time’ as your currency over $,
– BUY CUSTOM, Find someone smaller, in your area, with verified reviews. Who makes locally and doesn’t transport vast distances, handling many times.
AMERICAN WOODMARK and THE HOME DEPOT – Expect to ‘DO Less’
‘Spend MUCH MORE’

The paint finish chips extremely easily, packing material causes "scuffs" to the finish in places. The rep came out but it took over 4 months to get some replacement doors, but they were just as bad in their finish and quality. Communication was horrible. I wouldn't suggest this company to anyone. Buyer beware--- they have what is called "tolerance"--- which basically means that there is a certain amount of tolerance/ poor quality that they allow BEFORE you can get any type of replacement or satisfaction. HORRIBLE!!!! They should be ashamed of themselves.

I went with Canyon Creek for my kitchen cabinets because they were local and had a good reputation. Given my experience, I have to advise against anyone using them right now.

They are having horrible quality control and production issues and one out of every two of my cabinets had something wrong with them. As the contractor and I unboxed them, the joke became that they only thing that they got right was the color. Some were minor issues (ex. paint) but most were head-scratching/how-did-this get-shipped errors like cabinets built upside down or doors mounted on the wrong side. There were cabinets that were supposed to be drawers had doors. The shaker front drawers had slab fronts. The Upper shelf bracket holes were drilled at different levels (a real issue since they were open/glass front). The list was long but what was even more disppointing is how they responded to the errors.

We were told we could reject them and wait an additional 12 weeks for new cabinets (which would have resulted in pushing all our sub-contractors and the project in total back - mind you we were a full remodel and down to the studs at this point) or they would just send us replacement parts to install ourselves. After a price analysis, I decided the labor of the reworking was cheaper than waiting 12 weeks and losing my sub-contractors and having to delay the project which meant extending rental agreements, etc. Little did I know that it would mean that I would be waiting an additional 6 MONTHS for the random drawer fronts and panels and components to come trickling in without rhyme, reason or any communication from Canyon Creek.

All we were told when we emailed or called was there were "production issues". And because they required 100% of the payment up front, there was no recourse to hold back final payment.

It honestly breaks my heart to write a review like this for a local company that had such a good reputation with such solid product in the past. I have come to understand talking with some insiders that they are under "new leadership" and have automated their production so it is not the hand-crafted cabinets of pre-2020.

Don't waste your money. Their cabinets are junk. Extremely poor construction and quality. Deplorable customer service. We purchased $20,000 of Kraftmaid bathroom cabinetry. 18 of 28 drawers and doors were poorly finished with either dripping paint and sealant, rough finishes, chips, gouges, and lousey miters. After many conversations with Home Depot and Kraftmaid a rep from Kraftmaid finally agreed to replace all 18 drawers and doors. However, once received they washed their hands of us and expected us to pay someone to make the exchanges. The doors were easy, but each drawer requires changing 10-12 screws - a very time consuming project that cost us a lot of money. We purchased Kraftmaid because we thought it was one of better quality semi-custom cabinet makers. We were so wrong! Save your money. You will get better quality for less expense if you purchase prefab cabinets. Not to mention you will save yourself hours of stress and brain damage trying to negotiate with Kraftmaid. We are extremely disappointed.

I tore out my kitchen and had everything ready for the new cabinets in time for Christmas Dinner. On December 20th they informed me that they shut the trucks down until January. I had no kitchen for dinner. My son was on leave from the Marines. I had to "borrow" a kitchen at another house. I still do not have my cabinets. The rep will not speak to me. I was told to bad things happen. They are not interested in any type of discount or refund. I have other cabinets that need to be done but i will not use them!

After most doors/drawers (one is still in the process of replacement) were replaced without any issues, 1 door and 1 drawer face were replaced about 4 times since each time wrong size or color was sent. Finally Wood-Mode sent their sales representative who is not even Wood-Mode specialist but an outsourced arrogant sales person who told me that color variation has to be accepted and nothing will be replaced unless I pay for the faulty product company delivered as well as it was impossible to match that color. He almost contradicted himself since he said it was impossible to match the color/grain but at the same time it was possible if I paid for that. I hope that is not a business strategy to earn money for the replacement parts. He also started pointing to small shade differences in color on all doors which were totally acceptable. He also mentioned that since I accepted those I have to accept questionable differences as well. When I told him I was not going to accept that quality he started to laugh. HORRIBLE customer experience.

American Woodmark: Terrible Company

Kitchen Cabinets

American Woodmark cabinets are garbage, including everything from materials to quality control. 2023 saw us endure a nine-month ordeal to get the kitchen cabinets we paid for, though in the end, not the originally selected design. The most critical problem was that approximately 50% of the doors on our upper cabinets came warped. The doors were bowed up to 1/8” in the center. When you have this complete lack of quality control on a corner cabinet, you get a very noticeable hour-glass shadow. The same is true for the end cabinets, you see an arc shaped shadow between the door and the cabinet. Home Depot design staff throughout the process was helpful, and they immediately ordered replacement doors. Then the new doors came… and they also were warped. So, Home Depot order another set. At this I point began bringing the doors, still boxed/sealed, down to the store so Home Depot staff could observe that the doors were coming straight from the factory warped. This went on until we finally gave up after four sets of replacement doors. According to Home Depot staff, American Woodmark insisted the replacement doors were being inspected prior to shipment, an obvious lie. At the end the American Woodmark Rep allegedly told Home Depot staff that is just the way it is, and warped doors are within the design tolerances. At his point Home Depot paid for replacement doors for all of our upper cabinets, of a different design (but same finish), as it was clear that American Woodmark was incapable of manufacturing doors that were flat, and that they would not stand behind their products.

Secondary to the ninth month ordeal described above, was the quality control/shoddy assembly of the lower cabinets (which were of a different design/finish from the upper). I had to completely remount several of the drawer faces. The hardware as designed/used allows for slight adjustments to counter expected settling during transit. In our case, the assembly was so sloppy, and so far out of plum that I had to remove the faces and the hardware. Then remount everything with the brackets shifted up and in new holes. We used American Woodmark back in 2016, and everything was fine. Prior to this current house/kitchen I saw that many reviews were now very critical, but I foolishly ignored them. Stay away from this company- they are garbage and you will regret it. I can’t imagine how mush worse this would have been if we had a contractor doing the install… as we would have been paying extra labor for everything.

And again, Home Depot staff was very helpful through the ordeal, and always had our back. Especially since they repeatedly saw how shoddy the product was each time we unboxed a new set of doors, hoping that they would be flat.

However, the shipping packaging was inadequate, and the and 6 or 7 doors needed to be replaced. The lowes agent was great, and coordinated; however, many of the doors had to be re-sent as the delivery packages were totally inadequate. I've now had one door resent to me 7 times! This last time I was told they were going to fortify the package extra, and it was no different. A nice big crack in this one.

Over these past 6 years the finish near the handles has lightened more and more to the point that it looks horrible. I reached out to the cabinet company we bought them from and they said since it was the finish that was the problem I would need to reach out to MCC directly. There's no phone number listed anywhere. (Red flag?) I filled out their contact form on their website and have not heard anything back. After a month of no reply I then reached back out to the cabinet company and emailed photos. He forwarded my email to the rep. Every few weeks I've followed up and there hasn't been any reply from MCC. I don't understand why these show so much wear. It's primarily just my husband and I that live in our home. We spent over $30k! I don't know what to do from here. :(

Kitchen Cabinets

We did a lot of research in regards to a complete kitchen remodel. Quite a few websites- including this one- ranked StarMark cabinets as either the best or in the top 3. On October 15th 2022 we signed a contract with a local retailer for StarMark cabinets. It was an order for 29 pieces including cabinets, kick and crown molding. the initial order arrived at the local retailer on 2/22/23. Our remodel was not scheduled until late May early June. The local retailer stated that they could hold the cabinets in the rear of the warehouse for 60 days but the warranty for damage would expire prior to us having them delivered. So we had the cabinets delivered 2 weeks before the warranty expired. Upon taking several days to individually unwrap and re wrap all 29 pieces I located 13 damaged pieces on 5/15/23. I took pictures of the damage and sent them to the local retailer. Who then forwarded a warranty claim to StarMark. In early June we received 9 items from StarMark. Out of the 9 items only 7 matched the model numbers provided on 5/15/23. I sent a email to the local retailer asking about the other missing waranty items and the 2 model numbers that did not match our order. The local retailer was told by StarMark that they would not 4 items did not meet warranty claim status. So our contractor had to change doors and splice a toe kick molding (Seam) during the initial install.

On 6/28/23 we made the mistake of Trusting StarMark again. We placed an order for 3 ten foot crown molding boards. This was an add on since we originally were not running the crown around the breakfast nook. StarMark took the order and said it would be 6-8 weeks. When we picked up the crown on 8/24-after returning from a vacation- it was banded wrapped by 5 straps. The time from when the crown arrived at the local retailer and install placed it outside the warranty window. We looked at the outside paper wrapping and saw no visible signs of damage. On 9/28 our contractor was able to fit us in to complete the crown installation. I brought all the crown pieces upstairs. Upon taking the special order crown out out I found the middle piece had scuff mark in 2 spots down past the paint. Also 2 dings that still had paint on molding but was obvious. This was the piece protected by the outside pieces strapped together. Damage had to have occurred in the factory. Our contractor measured the needed footage around the cabinets and said he would have to put some of the damaged crown up. I instructed him to use the pieces in shadowed areas.

After a couple of hours of installing the Crown our Contractor came inside from cutting 1 of the 3 special ordered Crown. He had only cut the angles on each end. Not reducing the length besides the saw blade. We have a spot for crown molding just barely over 119" long. Cutting the saw blade angle would have left a bit more then 119". When the crown molding was put up it was short. Since we did not measure that board prior to angle cut cut we do no know the exact length. Our contractor then called me into measure the 2 remaining 10 Feet 120" boards. On 2 seperate tape measures the boards were 118 3/4" and 118 1/4". Our contractor- who has been doing this for 30 years had never seen a 10 foot board that short let alone "3". Who at StarMark would allow 3 Boards to ship that are under length. And as a customer WHO would think to measure board length upon delivery. Had to splice-seam again

THIS IS THE REASON FOR THE TITLE.

8/2023

We hired a contractor through Home Depot [H.D.] to remodel our kitchen in 2012. All of the old cabinets were replaced with Kraftmaid Piermont Full in Praline [light tan]. One of the selling factors for this brand was their lifetime warranty. There are only two adults residing in our home and we make every effort to take good care of our assets - such as our house. Initially, the cabinets looked great. However, within two years they began to show wear. See photos. Part of what was upsetting about that is the entire finish began coming off the fronts - varnish, color and all. I contacted H.D. Based on our communication & photos I took, we were sent a replacement drawer front & a lazy susan door front. But the color & varnish continued to come off & some door joints began to separate. In 2022, I sent photos of all the damage to H.D. This time I was told the damage was classified as ‘normal wear & tear’. I was told the doors joints WOULD separate if they came in contact with any water [in a kitchen?]. These cabinets were not engineered to be in a location where food & drinks are prepared; where dishes are washed? I was also asked why I would want replacement fronts as my cabinets were
considered “old”and the new cabinet fronts would be a different color. My kitchen would look “stripe-y”. I was offered a touch up stick, a marker, & subsequently a small can of clear coat. Kitchen remodels are expensive and a huge hassle. I am VERY disappointed in the quality of this brand of cabinet.

This time I was told the damage was classified as ‘normal wear & tear’. I was told the doors joints WOULD separate if they came in contact with any water [in a kitchen?]. These cabinets were not engineered to be in a location where food & drinks are prepared; where dishes are washed? I was also asked why I would want replacement fronts as my cabinets were considered “old”and the new cabinet fronts would be a different color. My kitchen would look “stripe-y”. I was offered a touch up stick, a marker, & subsequently a small can of clear coat. Kitchen remodels are expensive and a huge hassle. I am VERY disappointed in the quality of this brand of cabinet.

This is a terrible cabinet company. I heard they were very good and chose them but severely regret working with them. Unfortunately I will be meeting with an attorney to discuss how to get these issues resolved.
Perhaps some people get lucky and get nice cabinets but there is so much poor workmanship and incompetence apparent in my cabinets and with the communications. I wonder if all the good reviews are fake reviews.
The Rails and stiles of the cabinets were not square. The face frames and box were not all flush. They built my oven and microwave cabinets to the wrong dimension so my appliances don't fit and will not replace or authorize payment for the carpenter to do the work. I sent them videos and a 4 page document of all the issues in April 2023.
I installed the defective cabinets March 2023 and discovered all of these defects. It's now almost September and no one will take responsibility for finishing the repairs and replacement. They sent me the wrong trim order and wrong replacement cabinets. The custom cabinet that had to be rebuilt still has paint splotches, not finished in the interior as ordered, and has scratches.
The sales person who came to my home to look at the issues is poorly trained and was extremely condescending and rude to me. Their company will not authorize the carpenter to fully repair my cabinets. There are so many issues and no completion date.

The Front stile and the door is solid wood but every other piece of this cabinet is plywood and particle board...and they are not constructed any better than the prefab crap most people buy for 1/10th of the cost. The cabinets finish left much to be desired, the side of our bookcase looked horrible, like someone put it on a press and forgot about it, the finish on adjacent cabinet doors was not consistent, the edging on the drawers wasn't finished properly.
Given the cost @$23000 I feel like I have been ripped off and would never recommend your company to anyone.

The quality control is absolutely awful. We actually got a door from the factory that had blue painters tape on it highlighting all the dings in it. And they still sent it to us!
We spent $20,000 to have subpar cabinets that are covered in dings and scratches. Believe the reviews and do not buy these!

We were told they are some of the best cabinets on the market and are a quality product and a company that stands behind their product. That was not at all the experience we had. When the cabinets arrived we went over them and found many problems. The local dealer came over to look at and record all the problems we found. After almost 5 weeks of waiting for an answer we found the only thing that Fieldstone would cover was a toe kick that was a warped and discolored piece of wood and several crown molding pieces that had large dents and bowed. They did not cover the 3 upper cabinets that had major manufacturing flaws and issues. The glue did not even go along the seam. On one cabinet they tried several times to get the seam but missed terribly both times. One cabinet had the glue no where near the seam, but in the middle of the cabinet. The wood was actually cracked on 2 cabinets. Another cabinet used a piece of wood that had some type of paper cover that looked like wood and was partially attached to the cabinet. We were told that Fieldstone would not cover the cabinets. I wish I could download pictures so you could see the issues.

The reality is that I live in a neighborhood with 1200 homes (not the biggest neighborhood in the world, but certainly not small) and all of the neighbors are quite vocal when there is something they are not happy with. The two builders in this neighborhood, Dream Finders and Toll Brothers both use these cabinets. A lot has changed since COVID. Diamond keeps sending me cabinets with manufacturing defects, for one of the cabinets I'm on the 5th one and it is still not acceptable. The associates at the assembly plant clearly don't care. They recently spun off from a larger company and I don't know how they will survive. I've even had the local Diamond sales rep to my house who admitted the quality was bad, reordered them and assured me the plant quality people would inspect to make sure it was good... well the last one I got was full of dings, the finish has inconsistent dark hues in it, and there are huge gaps where parts come together... they simply did it as quickly as possible and don't care. The only thing they make good are the Diamond Now cabinets, if you just want plain cabinets. But for semi-custom, DO NOT use anything from MasterBrand.

How the company puts them together is of a very poor quality. I'm surprised there isn't a grove in the front face to have the upper and lower panels sit in. Only the hot glue is used to secure it together and well the glue is all separating. Without proper support the bottom panel the cabinet will sag overtime. I shouldn't have to reenforce that joint just so it's held together.

Some of the defects were so blatantly obvious it’s almost unbelievable that there is any inspection going on in their factory, ie hinges protruding through the side of door. The undersides of cabinets are unfinished and look terrible when you’re sitting at kitchen table looking over at counter. I still have one cabinet door that needs replaced. It looks like the paint on the bottom corner chipped off and someone tried to cover it with some type of crayon. I love many of the cabinet features like the double stack silverware drawer. Overall I am very disappointed and would think it likely I would buy a different brand if ever to do another kitchen remodel.

I would give that a big NAY!!!!!
I special ordered these cabinets from Home Depot for my new construction. I was told that they could take up to six months for the order to be fulfilled. They ended up coming in four months. Because of covid, our house was taking a long time to build because nobody wants to work anymore and we couldn't find help. My husband and sons had to work on getting the project done. The cabinets have been sitting in the same spot in our garage since they were delivered.
We are finally at the point of installing them. Most were in good shape but two of them were not even properly put together. The beads of glue were in the grooves but the side panels were never pushed into the grooves. They were left unattached and packaged for delivery sp the cabinet was falling apart in the box. The double wall oven cabinet was only big enough for a single wall oven.We called our salesman from Home Depot and he argued with us about the opening even though we gave him the dimensions of the wall oven upon ordering. He then said that they don't offer custom cutting and that they are stock cabinets. So why did we order custome cabinets at twice the price? We had to have the cabinet modified by a woodworker and order smaller top doors. Because the date of the invoice is over 90 days (it took 120+ days to get them), they will not honor replacing the defective cabinets. So I have to say that my complaint is against both the manufacturer and the vendor. I paid almost seventeen thousand dollars for these "custom" kitchen cabinets and I have had nothing but a headache with them. Spend a bit more and get a better brand and better yet, get them somewhere other than a box store like Home Depot. Lesson learned.

We ordered an expensive full kitchen of solid wood Schrock cabinets. The exterior wood looks very nice. The frames are solid plywood. The hardware is really good.

All the shelves are poor. They used plastic veneer that does not match the wood finish. The veneer is also wider than the shelves, so there is an edge above and below the shelf that catches your plate, or your hand.

Every corner unit (upper and lowers) plastic veneer was installed incorrectly and every shelf has the veneer separating from the shelf. They wrapped the veneer around the sides of shelf into the box and then nailed it. This creates a bend pressure and the cheap plastic veneer has no chance to stay glued at each end. This also creates a gap between each shelf at the door side of the box, and it is tight on the back of the cabinet. Use a flashlight at the back of the cabinet and it is tight, no light, but 1/4 toward the front, you end up with 1/16 gap between each shelf and the wall of the cabinet. The straight cabinets do not have this problem. The plastic veneer was cut straight at the end right and left of each shelf and is glued down and will likely stay in place. They did use too wide of plastic veneer and it leaves an edge that you catch with your hand.

They send out a rep and he said they manufacture the straight units and corner units in different facilities.

They are sending a technician to cut and glue the laminate again, but the laminate that causes the side gap will remain. It also is taking them a month to have this person arrive.

We had one big pantry arrive cracked and they are sending a replacement. He came on a Friday and promised to place the order on Monday and it would take 3 weeks. Well, we did a follow up and guess what? No order was placed until we called for an ETA. That is lousy service from Schrock.

I wish we had ordered from some other vendor. The cabinets will look good on the outside, but the veneer on each shelf is crap and will likely keep peeling off. There is so much about the cabinets that are quality, but the shelves and the off color plastic veneer is horrible.

I will post photos after I submit this.

After less than 2 years use use we have had several issues.

You cannot use a dishwasher with the doors as the door wood blows as they cannot cope with it. We use a high quality dishwasher made by NEFF.

You cannot use the doors for every day use. The doors we chose have the handles integrated into the panels. The paint flakes off where you place your hands to open the doors. It shows the white underlay base coat beneath.

We have had one panel fall off as the wood could not cope with the screw screwed into it. We used a professional kitchen supplier to fit the kitchen.

They will not honour their 20 year guarantee. They will only offer a 30% discount to purchase new doors.

I’ve spent more time trying to get things right, but it’s been a losing battle. The most expensive kitchen remodel I’ve ever had, and sadly, the worst. It looks incredibly cheap. I hope that by writing this review, I’ll have saved others from having to go through this awful and expensive and stressful experience. Go to Menards and check out their Klearvue line. So much cheaper, more choices, and much better quality.

I order all plywood construction because these cabinets are going into my home. I have a residential rental business and I usually use Mills Pride cabinets when renvattonga rental without any issues with quality or delivery. But since I was renovating my own home, I decided to go to what was supposed to be top tier that Homedepot had to offer and what a mistake that has been!
First thing, the cost of this kitchen is 50% higher if i went with the tired and true Mills Pride. Secondly, if you think buying all plywood construction from KraftMaid is going to be of good quality. You will be very disappointed! I seen higher quality plywood used as shipping crates. Third, after receiving the initial KraftMaid cabinets. Inspection of cabinets showed damaged and very poor construction practices to say the least. I informed Homedepot and they order replacements. 6 weeks later the cabinets I received from KraftMaid were in worst shape then the ones that were supposed to be replaced. I am now without a kitchen and demanding Homedepot to take back the whole order.
KraftMaid is garbage.! You would be better off going with a lower grade Mills Pride then spending more for inferior KraftMaid cabinets.

I think our favorite is the narrow pull-out spice drawers, our spices are always at hand and organized. A close second is our plate drawer, with its individual stacking rods to keep the plates organized we never have to reach up to get a heavy plate. Our kitchen cabinets are what make our kitchen so beautiful & timeless. The kitchen is the hub of our home and we now enjoy entertaining & cooking in it more than ever. We constructed a main home and guest home which resulted in an order of cabinets for two, large kitchens, a butler pantry, and 4 full bathrooms (thank GOD we didn’t use cabinetry in our half bath). Needless to say, our cabinet budget was substantial. The problem with this company is not just quality control but also their obvious lack of care to remedy issues. Our initial order included damaged, discolored, and low quality finish work as well as half our guest home kitchen cabinet fronts being completely wrong. When cabinets were re-ordered, the quality and color issues were even worse. We’re now at 16 months since our cabinets were ordered and STILL don’t have a completed project due to continual color, quality, and delay issues. We are shocked at how little this company cares as well. Their rep Danielle came out to the home and did not take any responsibility for the mistakes and excused the poor quality as “variations in wood.” Variations in wood doesn’t result in completely different stain colors on cabinetry, white filmy spots, sheen inconsistency, etc. Even our painted cabinetry was inconsistent in color from door front to door front. Unreal. We’re at a complete loss as to how this even got past their quality control department and made it to install. They’ve held up our entire build and cost us thousands of dollars on top of the THOUSANDS we spent on their subpar product. Given that they require full payment BEFORE installation, there’s little we’ve been able to do to remedy our specific situation. All I feel I can do now is warn others to stay away. It’s likely we’ll have to completely replace the horrible work Ultracraft has done in our home in order to fully make things right. Please be warned. They’ve made our Nashville dream home an utter nightmare and soured the entire experience.

We took a lot of time and effort to make sure we were getting exactly what we wanted and that the cabinets would match what we already had in place. We thought we were set, but our cabinets came broken and the stain was not even close to what we had selected. All of the drawers in one of the cabinets were broken and the cabinets overall were cheaply made with glue all over the inside. We had spent extra money for the outer sections of the cabinets to have a flush finish, and they looked almost exactly the same as the other sides that would be mounted to the wall. The color on the side of the cabinets is completely different from the doors-our contract says that the color may be different-but we didn’t expect this much. We are overall just totally underwhelmed with the entire experience and super disappointed after spending so much money on a gigantic disappointment. We are hoping to get some answers from Lowe’s/Kraftmade, otherwise we will need to stain and fix the cabinets on our own. More money and more problems.

The Wellborn cabinets delivered to my husband and I are of the poorest workmanship and quality! We are extremely disappointed with this product.
After we opened and inspected every box we were shocked to see the cabinets sent to us are nothing like those seen in the dealers showroom, their cabinet display samples and in Wellborn's product brochure. The cabinets have gaps in the backs, splits in the wood, loose staples, (can't believe staples were even used, not one nail), cheap plastic parts and plastic shelving supports ready to fall out which have split all the way through the cabinets sides. Thick brown paint in a patchy pattern was applied rather than the antiqued look we chose. We specifically asked the dealer for dovetailed drawers and solid wood boxes, the drawers have flat ends sloppily glued together. There obviously was no quality control inspection either by the manufacturer or the dealer, we discovered the mess. Our contractors said the cabinets could not be installed, there are no words! This list could go on, the photos speak for themselves! We did get a refund from the dealer, unfortunately however that was exhausting as we were treated so poorly.

There was a promo that included real wood boxes so I thought that this was a great buy. I live alone and am very gentle with my cabinets. Unfortunately, starting in year 3, they are splitting so all seems can be seen, chipping, screws are falling out and even the center pieces on some of the doors are falling making them uneven. I've left many messages at the 800 number that HD gave me and nothing! So my thoughts on American Woodcraft, they looked pretty for awhile but I would not recommend them to anyone.

I purchased the Reflection line of cabinets for my kitchen and I couldn't be more disappointed. When the cabinets first arrived, more than half of the doors were either damaged or defective. Had to reorder. On the plus side, I will say that the issues were addressed and no questions asked. However, it delayed the project by over a month. Some of the replacement doors still had minor defects that I was willing to ignore in order to complete the job.

Now, just over a year later, the black paint is peeling from almost all the baseboards and one of the doors. For a $20,000 kitchen, I was really hoping to get more than a year out of it. Save yourself the time, money and heartache and order cabinets from ANYONE else.

Or at least their finish and warranty is. We put these cabinets everywhere during a whole-house remodel. Anywhere there is natural light - not direct sun, even a skylight will do - the finish is peeling. They sent a factory rep to investigate and he agreed it was not mis-use or water damage. The finish could not handle the slightest bit of UV! Shrock would not honor the warranty, despite their own investigator's recommendation. Apparently "lifetime" in the warranty is not my lifetime, not the house's, nor the cabinet's! It just a few years worth, or the whim of the company, whichever comes first!

They actually repaired it with black wax. It’s a good thing they provide a touchup pen and a block of wax . Seriously a block of wax. I had waited 6 weeks for the cabinets and could not wait for a replacement. Contractor would not be available for months if not completed that week.I properly repaired the two areas with 2 component material. Matched the onyx color . When I contacted them about the damage it was replacement or use it. This was not shipping damage it was inspected and shipped in that condition. I was hoping to attach pictures

While many companies have had supply issues due to COVID we are coming up to 1 YEAR since we ordered to get quality cabinets, doors, and fit. We've received cabinets with the wrong finished sides, cabinets with stain drips all over, cabinets with visible burn marks, staining issues with fingerprints, extreme discoloration, high variance in staining. We have received 20 replacement cabinets and the replacement is often worse than the original. Customer service blames us, is patronizing and somehow once us to understand their challenges with workforce and quality while we accumulate contractor costs and don't have a working kitchen, master bath, laundry room or guest bathroom.
