Poor quality. First, then doors had to be replaced as the stain was blotchy and not covered in one spot. Then, after installing, the top right front separated about 18 inches...it had come unstapled!!! Don't buy....QC issues.

The one base cabinet was obviously repaired in manufacturing . A corner was chipped and glued back on . There was a gouge on the other side that was about 3 inches long and 1/2 in deep at center. They actually repaired it with black wax. It’s a good thing they provide a touchup pen and a block of wax . Seriously a block of wax. I had waited 6 weeks for the cabinets and could not wait for a replacement. Contractor would not be available for months if not completed that week.I properly repaired the two areas with 2 component material. Matched the onyx color . When I contacted them about the damage it was replacement or use it. This was not shipping damage it was inspected and shipped in that condition. I was hoping to attach pictures

The quality is top notch and the finishing is on point. The manufacturing crew obviously cares about the quality of the product. I would highly recommend Homecrest to anyone in the market for a quality long lasting kitchen for a great price! This is a limited custom line, as a designer I am able to pull enough items together to create a fully custom look for my client. As with any kitchen, you need an experienced designer that understands the capabilities of the line to create the kitchen of your dreams. I am excited about the new offerings the line will have to offer this summer, and will continue to use Homecrest for years to come!

Plywood used for sides were totally warped, drawer faces that are supposed to be same size are 1/4” or more different in size, 1/8” board used to bottom of big drawers. Had a small leak in plumbing and bottom of base cabinet flakes up immediately. Just garbage cabinets and for what we paid for them very very disappointed

Many of the hinges failed after 5 -10 years due to a plastic piece within the metal hinge. The dealer gave me several replacement hinges at no cost, no hassle.
I bought a brand new condo anticipating the cabinets would outlast me, esp since I take good care of things. Several of the drawers and doors began peeling (no, not nearest the stove) after 15 -17 years. They look terrible. The dealer can get replacements that I have to pay for as the warranty is limited and no longer applies. I’m betting the color will be off so I assume I’ll need to rub some dirt into them so they will match. I’m concerned if I just replace the peeling ones, that the rest may peel in the future. It seems ridiculous to replace them all. Poor design or glue or whatever the finishing process was..poor quality control. Run far and fast before purchasing ant thermafoil cabinets...wish I had.

We used HomeCrest cabinetry in our new kitchen back in 1987, so this review is for 30 year old cabinets. We installed the Ash wood door front cabinets (frames are unknown wood and sides are particle board) but not Ash). The cabinets look like Oak with a golden finish. I have to say that the door finish has held up incredibly well, with no staining or water marks or fading, chipping or peeling. All door hinges are still aligned and working perfectly. All cabinets and draws close properly after three decades of use in an active home. These cabinets have withstood wear and tear and any abuse from my two active sons since they were infants to adulthood.

The only issue I have had with these cabinets is near the stove. The side panels are fiberboard and have begun to flake on the bottom side edges, due to cooking steam, I assume. So, it is probably wise to seal the end cuts on the bottom sides of the cabinets near the stove to prevent flaring due to steam and heat. I intend to place thin pieces of wood over the exposed side panels.. Other than that small issue, the cabinets have held up very, very well.

Although I desire a kitchen renovation, I just cannot seem to part with these cabinets, but want a different look, so I am going to paint them. Hence, finding this web site to locate more matching cabinets to paint.

I would buy these cabinets all over again, no doubt about it.

The cherry cabinets arrived in rough shape. A poor quality finish. They told me that they are oversanded at the manufacturer as they are used to working with harder oak. They "touched up my whole kitchen". 1/2 the preinstalled hinges are the wrong type with an open hole at the top, slide with use when installed on rt side. Half of them are broken. There are no manufacturer stamps, no way to find them. The local business went out of business. I contacted Homecrest several times regarding replacing 2 slides that are broken. They are difficult to get a reply. They told me they shipped them Fed Ex, NEVER happened. Contacted them again and they said "Sorry our mistake, can't help you, contact the manufacturer" Poor customer service after a substancial investment. This was a large project, big kitchen. SO disappointed, wish I had not used this poor quality product with even worse customer service.

Homecrest cabinetry is not a custom cabinet manufacturer as listed in most reviews on this site. If they are being sold as a custom product I would be interested to see what the retailer is using as non custom, the cardboard boxes homecrest cabinetry comes in? This line is a budget friendly line and will have some of the issues listed in the reviews. With that being said so will EVERY other cabinet line out there. (it is a manufactured product and therefore prone to manufacturing issues) this is why Homecrest has a WARRANTY. As an owner and designer of Homecrest cabinetry it is one of the better budget lines of cabinets I have sold in my 15 years experience. For everyone that has posted a negative review I would have a conversation with your contractor/designer as the product was either mis-ordered or the quality was not represented to you correctly.
The rating I gave to Homecrest above is comparing the product to other well known manufactured lines.

The quality is horrible! Warped cabinet door. Crooked drawer front. Lots of particle board, though we 'upgraded' to the plywood option. The door and drawer fronts don't actually close on the frame, but are built to stop almost 1/4" away on thick rubber bumpers (if they closed flush with the frame that would only make the defects more obvious). Soft close mechanisms that don't close all the way. Could this possibly be worse? I don't think so. I'm told we can't get our money back since this is a custom order. I totally agree with the reviewer who found it hard to imagine that a company would actually put their name on something this bad. I'd like to throw this stuff in the dumpster, but that stops our renovation cold and throws away thousands of dollars.

I never had any issues with their quality.
The only thing my last kitchen didn't have the soft close hinge doors
and drawers. That was the greatest invention in recent years.

The cherry wood on the doors was not matched as exacting as it was on
my custom cabinets, but for the price and the features of all of the
pull outs in the pantry, I still give these cabinets a very high rating

In my next kitchen I am planning to use these same cabinets with a lot of custom add on features. The mixer pop-up, spice cabinets, and special drawers for plates w/ the pegs. I will get the plywood upgrade as well for the cabinet frame.

What I got was poor quality. 5 months after the remodel was finished one of the doors on an upper cabinet literally fell apart at the seams as there was no glue holding the seams together. A replacement door had the exact same problem, only this time the installer saw it before he completed the installation. In addition, the replacement door was cracked. If I wanted cheap crap made in China or wherever I would have gone to Home Depot. I wanted better quality and I especially wanted to buy American made products. They have made improvements and more options every year for the three to four decades. The cabinets currently have a life time warranty on the cabinets and all moving parts. I love it!
We over the years have needed a door, drawer, hinge, etc. replaced, never an issue. Always covered under warranty. They don't nickel and dime you to death. The cabinets we have even had all wood construction, solid wood doors and drawer fronts. Cant beat the this cabinet line. The best I've ever used.

But my main quality concern is that the top interior joints are rarely closed well with VERY visible gaps most of the time. There is also a very noticeable difference in quality from the wood stained product which feels dry and somewhat starved. I have had some issues with this characteristic, which unfortunately to be returned to the plant for replacement, especially the very dark colors..But their painted and glazed finishes are most excellent. I have never had a return due to starved painted or glazed finishes in the last 5 yrs.

I have been a dealer selling Homecrest Cabinetry for 25 years. For the money they have always been the best value in my showroom. After reading through the reviews I would say 99% of the problems are the dealers. I have always found Homecrest to be extremely helpful in every instance where we had a problem. They always bend over backwards to accomodate my customers. The product comes in on time and with few issues. Their custom modification ability places them head and shoulders above other manufacturers in their price catagory.
The paint finish is not the best but is acceptable in this price range. I think the dealer must set the right expectations or the client will be dissapointed. This is not a Wood Mode product and it doesn't try to be. It is a fine quality product which will cost you less then it's competition. They now have a lifetime warranty and they stand behind it.
I enjoy selling Homecrest and have never faced the sort of dissapointment from my customers that is expressed in some of these reviews. I would suggest to Homecrest that they train the dealers better in how they represent the product and how to handle customer complaints.
With realistic expectations you will find Homecrest to be a great value that will last for many years in your kitchen without problems.

I had compared these to another brand that was more expensive but did not offer the ability to customize that HomeCrest does.

Great price and they'll do most customization. Even though the customization we wanted wasn't in the book our designer knew that it could be submitted to the factory for a price.

Great color, even throughout the kitchen---no spotty areas.

Most cabinets have the same warranty these days so warranty doesn't really concern me. I did have to replace a hinge but my designer gave me the number for the hinge company and i called them and gave them the number off the hinge and they sent me a pack overnight for free. I can only assume that the other reviewers just had an experience with a dealership that was bad, not the actual cabinet line. Every industry has salespeople who totally fumble service and make a bad name for the product. I have had such a GOOD experience that i can only surmise that is what happened to the reviewer who had a poor review.

I should also add that my sister who lives in another state has Homecrest and has never had any issues at all with hers and they have been in place longer than mine.

The hinges on my homecrest cabinets started failing within about 5 years of redoing our kitchen. Though they are still under warranty, it's darn near impossible to get in touch with Homecrest or to get one of their dealers to help us.

(Furthermore, having been trying off and on for a year now to find someone to help us, I've noticed the local homecrest dealers have turned over completely--never a good sign.)

Bottom line - next time I will go with another manufacturer!

I have some issues now with my Homecrest as two of my thermofoil doors split at the bottom wrap and the painted face and the crown molding white yellowed and can not be cleaned. This should not have happened. Thinking these were Kraftmaid I called their customer service and was very pleased with what they would do for me but we deduced these cabinets were not Kraftmaid. E-mailing Homecrest was worthless and calling them I was instructed that I had to find a dealer first. Expecting that was just to verify problem I was then surprised that the dealer representative would call and then visit my home to view. After a week I am still waiting for that call. This whole process is taking such a riduculous amount of time and I won't be surprised if I have to find another brand with similar doors and have to paint the trim myself. Homecrest customer service is terrible and I will not deal with them again. Kraftmaid seems to have a superior customer service.

I thought I had finally selected my cabinets. The price was steep, but I figured I was only going to do this once. When my contractor saw my selection, he suggested I look into Home Crest. I could not be happier. The price was about half of the custom cabinets I looked at - even with the upgrades I included. I got maple cabinets, ginger finish with cocoa glaze, and Tuscany doors and drawers. By installing upper and lower molding on the cabinets, solid wood end panels, and solid slow close drawers, the cabinets look high end without the high end price. The workmanship is very good and installation was a breeze. I am told the custom options are somewhat limted, but that was not a problem in my case. I wanted to maximize cabinet space and was not looking for the "extras" like lazy susans, platter racks, and spice drawers. I have had the cabinets for about a year with no problems. They are durable and easy to clean. Everyone comments on how great they look.
