Quick turnaround time. I like that the cabinets were made of solid wood and in america. However, the shipping packaging was inadequate, and the and 6 or 7 doors needed to be replaced. The lowes agent was great, and coordinated; however, many of the doors had to be re-sent as the delivery packages were totally inadequate. I've now had one door resent to me 7 times! This last time I was told they were going to fortify the package extra, and it was no different. A nice big crack in this one. Someone from Diamond please reach out to me. I purchased the Reflection line of cabinets for my kitchen and I couldn't be more disappointed. When the cabinets first arrived, more than half of the doors were either damaged or defective. Had to reorder. On the plus side, I will say that the issues were addressed and no questions asked. However, it delayed the project by over a month. Some of the replacement doors still had minor defects that I was willing to ignore in order to complete the job. Now, just over a year later, the black paint is peeling from almost all the baseboards and one of the doors. For a $20,000 kitchen, I was really hoping to get more than a year out of it. Save yourself the time, money and heartache and order cabinets from ANYONE else. ]]> Tue, 21 Jun 2022 15:16:14 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Terrible paint]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1097 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1097 Our upper white cabinets have been okay. Before installation all plywood boxes were checked for square, quality finish, face frame integrity, laminate door finish, square, straight edge. Doors had minimal deflection, face frames bowed inward at bottom, photos available. This bowing constricted the hinge up/down adjustment. One hinge guide lugs were misaligned, actually embedded in face of frame. Mounting screw holes were stripped, screws failed to tighten. Doors were removed prior to cabinet installation, hinges remained on doors. Door installation required force to connect bottom hinge due to bowed face frame. One hinge pocket hole was mis-aligned, drilled at very edge of door, penetrating edge banding, see photo. This hinge could not be installed. As soon as we opened the front and aw the doors, one higher than the other, some slightly warped, gaps and major issues with the so called artisan glaze where some areas the glaze is very heavy and some are missing glaze altogether. It looks like someone took marker that off an on ran out of ink. I was almost in tears. There's a 20% restocking fee for returning them and that's a large sum on a purchase of almost 15k. The girl at Lowe's is doing her best to assist with getting a resolution but the options so far are not great. Since doors are not installed correctly, drilling more holes will only weaken the material and I can just see the doors eventually breaking off at the hinges. They do not want to replace the full units, only the doors. It is evident that the Diamond Company does not value customer satisfaction or have pride in their product. Our cabinet doors have white lines running down them in the places that are not stained and our drawer fronts don’t have the same color of stain as the doors. It looks like someone took an aerosol can and applied the stain on the doors resulting in a dark stripe then light stripe and then no stain at all. Quality control should have immediately seen this. We have doors that have little stain at all on the inside. There are doors and drawers that have not been sanded smooth so are still rough to the touch. We have two drawer fronts that are actually the wrong model so ours don’t match. We also ordered tilt out fronts for our sink area, still don’t have those months later. I see now why they want their money up front. I bought the higher end Diamond cabinets from Lowes. A modest amount of cabinets was still quite expensive (~$12.5k after 30% and 10% discounts). This was my 2nd lowes cabinet purchase, my first one was KraftMaid and it was a totally different (better) experience years ago with that one. Where to begin? Like other reviewers here, the quality control coming out of the manufacturing facility is god-awful. Every door has issues with the paint finish - be it scuffs that don't clean off, unpainted insides, unfinished and unpainted edges, dings, dents, bruises, spots, etc. Multiple cabinets were not square. Multiple drawers were not square. The custom options/adders are nearly always WAY worse, it's like a first-time woodworker took a hacksaw to the wall cabinets that had custom parts on it (for example the "end door" feature). It was truly embarrassing to see it. My first delivery of the removable shelves were completely unfinished. The laminate/veneer was not matching up, it's like somebody used a 10 year old rusty table saw to make the cuts. The company replaced incorrect things every time, but that means waiting another 4-6 weeks, which delays your project massively and means most of the time that the contractor is going to charge you for it (like mine). The replacements are, 90% of the time, worse than the originals. Some items were replaced THREE Times, and after that much wasteful shipping/manufacturing, I paid my contractor to make the cabinet proper. He took several cabinets to the planer and table saw in order to make them square, and refinished the edges himself! How embarrassing for Diamond, and how expensive for the customer (me!). Now I have enough crap cabinets in the basement to throw out, which will cost me even more, because they won't take back the old ones they have replaced either. Talk about environmental impact. The shipping, cardboard, styrofoam, manufacturing, waste of people's time, and god the cost to EVERYONE involved, it's so insane. In the end I told Diamond I was tired of replacing their crap product with a worse one, and I wasn't going to delay my kitchen project any more (already doubled the time because of them). I asked for money back, they gave me 10% which is a slap in the face, and refused to pay my contractors additional charges. I'm now in discussion with Lowes as well. All in all, run run run away from diamond at lowes or diamond as a company. I cannot say it more. Pick somebody else, you can't be worse than these. ]]> Fri, 08 Nov 2019 03:42:02 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Run Away, Don't Walk!!]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=740 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=740 We have a huge kitchen. Cabinets on appliance wall is 24' with all cabinets, Stove, double refridges etc... Our island is 17 ft long & 59" wide, cabinets on both sides. Cabinets were supposed to be 'inspected' upon arrival by subcontractor that the big box company hired to install them. They apparently were inspected only for shipping damage & NOT quality. Many, many issues! The Masterbrand/Diamond rep came to the house with the big box kitchen designer(designer is a pro & highly skilled). The rep agreed to replace many doors and a couple of 'panels'. One of which was Horribly Defective & looked like a tractor tire had placed the black glaze on it! Over the next few weeks the replacements began to arrive. The replacements were often WORSE than the doors/panels they were to replace!!! Today the 2nd replacement arrived. Same problem. Center panel has no stain or little stain/glaze where it attaches to the door frame. The raised panel in the center of the frame has no stain or glaze on each of the four 45 degree 'edges' where the routering changes directions by 90 degrees. It appears this door has been shipped in the past or else it just traveled poorly this time. Packaging was intact & the door should have been fine. Looks like it has been offered as a replacement before??? Same as many of the 1st replacements. The 2nd replacement also has Blotchy Glaze in the center panel, just as the initial cabinets had, just as some of the 1st replacement had too. So sad. Cherry frame is gorgeous but the panel in the middle wrecks the look of the door. Am negotiating with Masterbrand & will update this reveiw after the final 2nd replacements arrive and there is resolution. We will NOT be receiving 3 or 4 or more replacements. Lead time was 5 weeks which isn’t bad if you plan accordingly. 2. They have good color choices and cabinet configuration options. 3. The quality of the finishes is absolutely terrible. They must not even have a quality check before shipping. We have replaced over half off the cabinet fronts (doors and drawers). And the replacements have not been right either. The following details the numerous issues we experienced in our dealings with Diamond Cabinets. After explaining that we would like a higher-end cabinet, my wife and I were directed to the Diamond line of cabinets and selected a Cherry cabinet with an expresso finish. We purchased an 8-foot vanity and a floor-to-ceiling custom-designed pantry style cabinet. The cabinets arrived damaged, which isn’t necessarily a Diamond issue aside from the fact that the delivery agent consisted of one person to handle several large cabinets. A base cabinet was damaged on the bottom right corner – looks like handling damage as opposed to something that left the factory damaged. Upon installation we noticed that one of the pantry doors had a nick at the top of the door and several wood defects (a groove in the wood) at eye level. The top two doors of the pantry cabinet were a different sheen or different grain than the cabinet they sit on. Immediately obvious to anyone who looked at the doors. The front frame of the pantry cabinet isn’t square as the bottom left corner shows the raw wood of the side panel. Virtually every drawer (except two) of the vanity has a flaw, each of the four under-sink doors has a flaw. The Diamond Sales Representative for this area came to my home to review the cabinets and agreed to replace doors and drawers and then have a furniture refinisher come to correct any remaining minor defects. At this point, no one seems to be able to locate our replacement parts and we are left hanging. Of course, ProSource has been paid as well as Diamond. Folks, do yourself a favor and stay away from this manufacturer. Nothing here but poor craftsmanship and no one willing to own an issue to resolve the problem. So many issues with quality control. It's been 5 months and we still don't have a complete set. Here are all the issues we ran into with "custom" prepainted Diamond cabinets purchased through Lowes: - shipped without finished side panels - cabinets shipped with different colors - wrong sized cabinets shipped - cabinets shipped without doors - trim pieces missing - several cabinets with misaligned seams ]]> Mon, 02 Jul 2018 03:11:41 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Wish I had found these reviews!]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=611 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=611 Definitely not what we expected when purchasing through the Lowes and using their planner. - That part of the process was fine. The cabinets are ok- not great and had it not been for the fact that we wanted full height uppers (39") I think we would have been money ahead to buy in-stock cabinets. It is true the hardware(hinges, drawer glides ) are much better than stock and the drawers are dovetailed which makes them stronger, but the rest of the stuff is garbage. everything else is still crappy particle wood which we were let to believe would be plywood, again which is ok, but not great. - Our problems is that there is little to no glue used anywhere, in many cases they drove the staples in so far that most everything is literally hanging by a thread. The color matching was absolutely horrid, doors and drawer fronts were warped, there were some drawer glides not assembled correcrly- the list goes on. Yea, the instock cabinets don't have some of needed sized and options, but at least we could have picked through them to find ones without warped doors or funny colors. You would think that they have some sort of qualify assurance before they are shipped out the door-- guess not. - The worst part is that we planned on installing them ourselves to save some money but because we are not 'Professional' installers, our claims are not really valid. - I tell everyone now that if you buying cabinets, it is probably money ahead and less frustration to find a local cabinet maker and get "Real" cabinets made. I may buy some in-stock cabinets made by diamond because at least I know what I am in for and pick them out - but will Never do special order again from Diamond or any of the parent companies other brands am making sure that others know as well. ]]> Thu, 05 Oct 2017 20:36:57 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Our beautiful kitchen]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=600 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=600 I absolutely love my Diamond cabinets! I spent many months researching cabinets and finally decided on the Diamond Reflection series offered at Lowe's for our 20-year-old-home kitchen remodel. Our Kitchen Designer Kristin worked with us on the design and it turned out gorgeous! The only significant issue we had with our cabinet delivery was the ordering from Lowe's - the computer designer (not Kristin) forgot to order some trim pieces that impacted our installation. We had to make several reorders as we went along realizing we were missing or didn't have enough materials. This delayed us several weeks. We had a couple of doors that had some minor blemishes so we reordered them too. The replacements fit perfectly. We had problems with our Lowe's General Contractor so we wound up having one person start the cabinet installation and another finish. The first installer complained about the cabinets and how they weren't square because they weren't well made - he only installed 4 cabinets in 3 days. The second installer disagreed and was able to install the remaining 24 cabinets in 5 days. Any gaps due to unlevel floors, walls or ceilings he was able to adjust the cabinets to make them fit. The only issue we had was with our full overlay doors - they didn't close snug even after the Diamond brackets were adjusted. Our installer (and Project Manager Virgil) had to modify the brackets by adding additional metal shims to move the doors close enough to eliminate the gap. While I will say the cabinets weren't perfect (life seldom is), our professional and knowledgeable designer, project manager and installer made up for any shortfalls. We haven't had any issues with finish or durability. Unfortunately we have sold our home and are moving into brand new house. While everything is new, we left some spaces bare bones so that we could modify them later with our personal touch. We are looking forward to designing our laundry room and pantry with Lowe's using Diamond cabinets! And our favorite peeps from Lowe's! ]]> Sun, 20 Aug 2017 18:20:52 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Horrible, horrible cabinets]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=558 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=558 A kitchen designer recommended these cabinets as good, solid cabinets that I would be very happy with. No - I'm not happy. They are cheap (in terms of quality, not price) garbage. The cabinets boxes don't align and the drawers and doors from one box to another will never line up regardless of adjustments. The cabinets aren't delivered as ordered - one cabinet was manufactured with the door opening the wrong way; a tilt-out drawer didn't. The door on one cabinet had a big chip in it that was just painted over and sent out. Another door was missing paint on part of the door. My contractor looked at them and said they were worse than junk but by then it was too late. This was supposed to be my dream kitchen - now I have nightmares every time I look at it. When I complained to the kitchen designer she came to the house with the Diamond rep and they just blew off my concerns. Wish I had seen these reviews before buying these things. ]]> Wed, 29 Mar 2017 19:27:36 +0000 <![CDATA[Diamond: Run far. Run fast.]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=486 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=486
Overall I'd say the materials used for these cabinets were fairly decent (only because I paid through the nose for all the upgrades) but in most other respects, they were just a hair above atrocious.

Issues basically fell into three categories:

1. GEOMETRY/ALIGNMENT ISSUES

I've seen far better alignment and tolerances on generic stuff from cheap, big-box furniture stores. I also do plenty of my own cabinetry, and I know how closely one can measure (1/64" isn't hard), and I know how accurately I can drill a hole by HAND (1/32" isn't hard). Diamond seems to be lucky to be within 10 times that, even though they have (or sure as heck should have) a factory, with jigs and templates, and all kinds of machinery set up to make these things predictably, over and over again. There is absolutely no excuse for the kind of appalling workmanship and misalignment of parts that I found on my cabinets. Oh, Diamond, let me count the ways that I do not love you...

First, one of the three cabinets was fully 1/4" out of square. Are they gluing these things together on a shifting sand dune?

Second, panels were not flush with one another. In several cases I had to sand the joint to make it even.

Third, fully half of the brackets holding drawer rails at the back were too high, yielding canted drawer rails and therefore canted drawer fronts. This is NOT an adjustable setting. I had to unscrew everything and mount the brackets properly, which takes a ton of time. It is extremely hard to move a hole at the back of a cabinet to a location near the original hole. It's very difficult to reach, and the drill or screw simply wants to slip back into the old hole, unless you also take the time to plug the old holes, which takes even more time.

Fourth, drawer rails were also not mounted at equal depth. Again, this is not adjustable. The screw slots do not allow for motion on this axis, and this was plenty enough to account for some of the drawer fronts' failure to sit flush. Again, I had to move screw holes around.

Finally, many of the drawer fronts were also mounted at an angle and/or with no consistency of vertical offset from the top of the underlying drawer box. The false front under the sink was fully 1/4" off center. Absolutely pathetic. I could do better with my eyes closed.

2. FINISH/DAMAGE ISSUES

There were many nicks and dings around the face frame. Perhaps they figured I wouldn't care because they are hidden when the drawers are closed, but they're perfectly visible when the drawers are open. Far worse was the massive chip out of the veneer in the corner of the decorative plywood end for which they'd had the audacity to charge me $125 (more on that later). To be fair, some of the smaller dings around the face frame might have happened during shipment when drawers shifted and smacked into the sides of the frame, but why wouldn't they protect against this with a tiny shim of foam or cardboard? They used a truly ludicrous amount of foam and cardboard to double pack the cabinets on the whole. Could they move just 2% of that gratuitous packing material into a small shim that keeps the drawers from shifting during transport? Pretty clearly a case of just not caring.

3. PRICING ISSUES

These things were not cheap, and the "upgrades" were even worse. Apparently dark brown is a "premium" finish for reasons that totally escape me, and for which they added nearly 15% to the cost of the whole darn order! The "flush plywood end" cost an unconscionable $125. The ONLY thing that means is that this little piece of plywood is just 1/4" thicker than the plywood used everywhere else. I know what the incremental cost of an extra 1/4" of thickness is for plywood, and it sure as heck isn't $125 for a small fraction of a full sheet. Try something closer to $5. 25x is a pretty indefensible markup. Almost as bad is the $100 they charge for a quart of stain. Really? I can buy a quart of any other stain for something like $10-15. It takes a lot of gall to charge six times more for a stain that I'm sure they acquire very cheaply in large quantity.

SUMMARY

If Diamond is going to charge five times what a generic cabinet costs, they better darn well have quality and tolerances that are 5x better, not 5x WORSE. In their defense, I did eventually wrangle a credit for about 10% of the order, but that took several weeks, lots of pictures and email, and it's a pittance compared to the time and effort I spent (and still have yet to spend) fixing their shoddy work. I personally have no data on other brands of semi-custom cabinets, but I can say for sure that you should run as far and as fast as possible from Diamond until they decide to take even a passing interest in the quality of their product.

These cabinets were represented to us by Lowe's and plywood construction. THEY ARE NOT PLYWOOD. Save your self some aggravation and money don't buy these When they arrived they were particle board, paperboard, 1 cabinet of 11 was actually plywood. They look nice from the outside but they chip and crack....these are very cheaply built. I would not recommend Diamond cabinets or XXXXX cabinet department...they measured wrong. They sold me a 33 inch sink base, had plenty of room for a 36 inch sink base and now I can not put a regular size sink in the base....have to order a 36 and am stuck with the 33. BEWARE, these cabinets and Lowe's cabinet department is not as it appears.

I received a fixed shelf corner unit instead of a lazy susan, one upper came with no glass, They have since sent the glass with NO hardware to put it in and I still have not received it. I went with Diamond as suggested from Lowes. I went with a whiter shaker style. Once installed I could then see almost every cabinet was not square. I spent hours caulking all the insides to hide all the gaps and imperfections. Most of the door fronts had visible lines through the shaker style where it was not a tight, clean finish in the wood and the paint only emphasized it. They sent me new doors for my pantry ( one replacement was worse than my original!) they then sent me a third which I finally just hung. The icing on the cake was I then found many hairline cracks . Both upper cabinets next to my sink have hairline cracks the entire length of the cabinet on the outside. Also I found 2 hairline cracks down my 8' panel along side my fridge. Lastly I found an inch crack in the middle of the end of my penisula. I'm just devasted . I couldn't see these until I felt them as I wiped everything down after my remodel. The cabinets feel hollow and are poorly made. I tried to contact the regional manager about "my experience" and he never called to follow up. I wish I would have investigated more thoughly. I spent a fortune on these and it saddens me everytine I walk in my new kitchen. It was a terrible expereince that I now have to live with. When the final price was arrived at the Diamonds won out only because I could deal with Lowes on any issues. My bad for not realizing the Diamonds were press board as the Clique were plywood. When the Diamond Cabinets came there were 3 with FACTORY damage it was noted to Lowes that very day. One damaged was the FREE sink base. Because I had ripped my old kitchen out I could not wait 4 or 5 weeks so I asked for a credit of some sort. The stupid comment was, if the sink base was free how can we give a credit. This more or less sets the stage for the lack of customer service to come. Long story / short. I cannot speak for the plywood but the particle board is thin and cheap. Every kick plate required reattachment, on the 36 inch wide cabinets 2 of the center supports snapped right in half. The screws stripped with little effort so I need to follow up with newly purchased screws. After installation they look very nice, the color is nice the style being Quaker style most attractive.
