IT WILL SAVE YOU MISERY & $$$ !!! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMz9w2zPH6I&t Review of American Woodmark Cabinets bought from Home Depot. We are experienced Developers and Self Builders. We build houses, commercial properties, flip houses and manage rental properties. This video is our experience in terms of American Woodmark Cabinets in a number of areas ***CHAPTER 1 *** Looks at 'product build quality'. *** CHAPTER 2 *** Looks at American Woodmark quality standards during production and their quality control. You will see how, not one, but four of our base cabinets had been allowed to have the glue slip during manufacturing. The assembly workers then pin fix the panels that had slipped, such that the vertical edges were uneven like castle parapets or upstands in different planes. *** CHAPTER 3 *** We discuss American Woodmark 'Misrepresentation through the use of cutaway demonstration units in store at THE HOME DEPOT. The Home Depot Sales and designer team make great use of these cutaways to 'UP-Sell' the purchase of ALL PLYWOOD CONSTRUCTION BOXES. *** CHAPTER 4 *** we show you our 'Contract of Sale' where we paid an uplift of an additional $1100 with taxes for APC. Why do buyers want APC ? - Answer ; 1. RESISTANCE TO WATER. 2. RESISTANCE TO HUMIDITY. 3. LONGEVITY OF KITCHEN CABINETS. When they were delivered we found our cabinet boxes are constructed using a lamination of engineered particle (hardboard) to all the external surfaces. The construction method used by American Woodmark leaves a raw edge of hardboard, which simply acts like a sponge if it gets wet. You'll see in the video how just a short exposure to wet creates swelling and distortion of the laminate used on the supposed All Plywood Construction after just 5 minutes. The most vulnerable areas are always close to water supplies, and on the inside face of the cabinet out of sight. Any water will always find the board from the inside. The American Woodmark method of using raw hardboard leaves an inevitable vulnerability. You see how several of our cabinets which were also delivered wet, showed swelling, bubbling and distortion of the laminated outer face of the cabinets. If they could be so damaged from getting wet in a rain shower on the day of delivery after the cardboard casements got wet. How do American Woodmark stand behind a product in terms of it's longevity when the external APC faces of their cabinets were so easily damaged ? In the past when I’ve bought APC, it literally IS plywood boxes painted – primed and finish coat or an Egger resin or melamine finish. Tough and durable and repairable. We spent additional money on doing a waterfall for our Quartz which we had not intended simply because of this damage. American Woodmark Cabinets are sold by the way under a number of different brand names in LOWES, THE HOME DEPOT, and other independant stores. Their brands are_American Woodmark_Shenandoah_ Waypoint Living Spaces_Timberlake Cabinetry_Allen and Roth_Hampton Bay Designer Series_to name a few. *** CHAPTER 5 *** and *** Chapter 6 *** Shows you cores of the cabinets from when we drilled to accept appliance hoses. We then undertook a ‘Live Water Test to Demonstrate How the APC product held up. It’s laminated with the same thickness of hardboard that American Woodmark supply for installation as Kick Boards. So taking a scrap of this material we subjected it to a wet test. 5 Minutes of exposure to water, and the hardboard veneer used by American Woodmark starts to distort and swell. *** CHAPTER 7 *** Delivered damaged. During the follow-ups, we learned our cabinets were manually handled ‘3 times between factory and final delivery'. We learned that American Woodmark have literally scores of dedicated agents, dealing with the problems of damaged and mis-manufactured orders. You are going to spend ‘hours and days’ on the phone, cataloguing issues, never talking to the same agent twice ! You see the inadequate packaging, straps cut in as every handling person uses the straps. There are ‘NO FULL LENGTH 90 degree foam lined EDGE PROTECTORS inside of the straps. AMW do use corner protectors, made of hard plastic. However, they are fitted whilst painted surfaces are still curing from production. They cause damage when removed, or some where they had already moved during transit or rough handling. The hard plastic then rubs against the cabinet inside the casement. *** CHAPTER 8 *** When it’s gone BAD, your troubles are just beginning. These two large corporations are unable to pivot. They are big, slow, not flexible. Your project is compromised. They score NIL on too many areas to list here. We would say to you Home Depot maybe okay for buying an appliance or a light bulb from, but buying a Kitchen from them as American Woodmark’s agent is simply PAINFUL. HOME DEPT want ALL YOUR MONEY UPFRONT. Clients would walk away if they had only paid a deposit when they see the difference between what’s on the Can and what is ACTUALLY DELIVERED ! Mr Decker HOME DEPOT CEO, very disappointing you were unwilling to address our issues raised to you directly on several occasions. Equally the senior management of American Woodmark would not engage. Another reason to ‘NOT DO BUSINESS’. No Constructive engagement. No moral compass. No following the rules of Consumer Law with the best interests of their customer in mind. It’s like trying to grapple with a fog bank using a cutlass ! We asked for sensible and real excess ‘consequential costs’ we incurred of around $3K. So far HD have refunded $700. *** CONCLUSION *** If you value ‘Sanity’ and ‘Quality of Time’ as your currency over $, – BUY CUSTOM, Find someone smaller, in your area, with verified reviews. Who makes locally and doesn’t transport vast distances, handling many times. AMERICAN WOODMARK and THE HOME DEPOT – Expect to ‘DO Less’ ‘Spend MUCH MORE’ ]]> Sun, 17 Mar 2024 09:54:08 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Terrible Company]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1162 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1162 American Woodmark cabinets are garbage, including everything from materials to quality control. 2023 saw us endure a nine-month ordeal to get the kitchen cabinets we paid for, though in the end, not the originally selected design. The most critical problem was that approximately 50% of the doors on our upper cabinets came warped. The doors were bowed up to 1/8” in the center. When you have this complete lack of quality control on a corner cabinet, you get a very noticeable hour-glass shadow. The same is true for the end cabinets, you see an arc shaped shadow between the door and the cabinet. Home Depot design staff throughout the process was helpful, and they immediately ordered replacement doors. Then the new doors came… and they also were warped. So, Home Depot order another set. At this I point began bringing the doors, still boxed/sealed, down to the store so Home Depot staff could observe that the doors were coming straight from the factory warped. This went on until we finally gave up after four sets of replacement doors. According to Home Depot staff, American Woodmark insisted the replacement doors were being inspected prior to shipment, an obvious lie. At the end the American Woodmark Rep allegedly told Home Depot staff that is just the way it is, and warped doors are within the design tolerances. At his point Home Depot paid for replacement doors for all of our upper cabinets, of a different design (but same finish), as it was clear that American Woodmark was incapable of manufacturing doors that were flat, and that they would not stand behind their products. Secondary to the ninth month ordeal described above, was the quality control/shoddy assembly of the lower cabinets (which were of a different design/finish from the upper). I had to completely remount several of the drawer faces. The hardware as designed/used allows for slight adjustments to counter expected settling during transit. In our case, the assembly was so sloppy, and so far out of plum that I had to remove the faces and the hardware. Then remount everything with the brackets shifted up and in new holes. We used American Woodmark back in 2016, and everything was fine. Prior to this current house/kitchen I saw that many reviews were now very critical, but I foolishly ignored them. Stay away from this company- they are garbage and you will regret it. I can’t imagine how mush worse this would have been if we had a contractor doing the install… as we would have been paying extra labor for everything. And again, Home Depot staff was very helpful through the ordeal, and always had our back. Especially since they repeatedly saw how shoddy the product was each time we unboxed a new set of doors, hoping that they would be flat. ]]> Wed, 06 Dec 2023 16:15:45 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Yay or Nay? NAY!!!!!!!]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1129 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1129 I would give that a big NAY!!!!! I special ordered these cabinets from Home Depot for my new construction. I was told that they could take up to six months for the order to be fulfilled. They ended up coming in four months. Because of covid, our house was taking a long time to build because nobody wants to work anymore and we couldn't find help. My husband and sons had to work on getting the project done. The cabinets have been sitting in the same spot in our garage since they were delivered. We are finally at the point of installing them. Most were in good shape but two of them were not even properly put together. The beads of glue were in the grooves but the side panels were never pushed into the grooves. They were left unattached and packaged for delivery sp the cabinet was falling apart in the box. The double wall oven cabinet was only big enough for a single wall oven.We called our salesman from Home Depot and he argued with us about the opening even though we gave him the dimensions of the wall oven upon ordering. He then said that they don't offer custom cutting and that they are stock cabinets. So why did we order custome cabinets at twice the price? We had to have the cabinet modified by a woodworker and order smaller top doors. Because the date of the invoice is over 90 days (it took 120+ days to get them), they will not honor replacing the defective cabinets. So I have to say that my complaint is against both the manufacturer and the vendor. I paid almost seventeen thousand dollars for these "custom" kitchen cabinets and I have had nothing but a headache with them. Spend a bit more and get a better brand and better yet, get them somewhere other than a box store like Home Depot. Lesson learned. ]]> Sun, 26 Mar 2023 15:30:18 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: I do not recommend]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1106 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=1106 I saved for years to get my kitchen rehab, so in 2017, I went to Home Depot and was sold American Woodcraft. There was a promo that included real wood boxes so I thought that this was a great buy. I live alone and am very gentle with my cabinets. Unfortunately, starting in year 3, they are splitting so all seems can be seen, chipping, screws are falling out and even the center pieces on some of the doors are falling making them uneven. The problem, in her opinion, is a matter of misplaced expectations. Mainly, it is a matter of touch-up paint. Any changing of hardware or other carpentry is at the buyers expense. I had one drawer fixed and it cost me $40. The vanity cost $2700 and my expectations did not include having to pay more to have it look brand new. Waypoint cabinets are supposedly the top of the line brand of Woodmark cabinets. Took 10 weeks to arrive. Poor Waypoint craftsmanship from dovetail joints not glued properly (cabinet not square), crooked drawers, uneven and non-adjustable spacing between doors, three broken or missing rail clips. Ordered same cabinet a few years back and it was perfect. None of this was Good Value Center' fault. However, representatives (including owner, Michael Carson) were extremely unresponsive. I did get the rails replaced, but Good Value Center did nothing to solve the myriad of other problems. I sent plenty of photos to document the issues with my bath vanity. I had purched them for a kitchen at a previous house in early 2000’s. Those cabinets were good, and I iAd no issues. This purchase was based on that good prior experience and I did not check the internet for reviews - my mistake. Two tone uppers and lowers in shaker style were purchased for kitchen and bathroom. Painted uppers, stained lowers. The problems with quality started immediately. Units arrived damaged, doors hung wrong, drawers that would not close because they were overhanging the drawer below it, and predrilled holes where there should have been none. I took photos of defects and sent them to store where ordered and replacements tricked in. Problem is replacements were no better or worse than problem units. It’s as if they have NO quality control. After much time and negotiations, I was able to get monetary compensation from the HD store. They explained the $ refunded was the max at store level, but I should contact manufacturer - American Woodmark for more. After contacting manufacturer and sending photos of all the problems with paint and stain that still exist, after several months, they send me back to store where cabinetry was ordered. My husband and I ordered custom cabinets from Lowe’s in Colorado back in October from a company called American woodmark. We were going to wait until after the holidays but they had a special going on and guaranteed that if we purchased by that week they would be delivered before the holidays. My husband was laid off for the winter season so we decided to jump out the window and go for it so he could install them during his time off. My family was coming from Wisconsin for Christmas and decided to drive out earlier to help with our cabinet install. The cabinets arrived by thanksgiving. We were excited knowing we had plenty of time to install before Christmas. The first cabinet we opened was backwards. The second cabinet we opened had a hole punched through the back. The third cabinet was warped. We knew this didn’t seem right that 3/3 cabinets so far were damaged. We talked to our Lowe’s rep who personally came to our house to see the damage. He ordered new cabinets of the damages we had seen so far and encouraged us to upwrap the rest of them. As we found more and more damaged cabinets we kept reporting to him. We were originally told that any damaged cabinets would be replaced within 10 days per the policy. This was not the case. We received one cabinet a month later and we were told more would not be arriving until 6 weeks after that (2.5 months after original damage report). It was then revealed that the replacement cabinet we received thus far was also damaged and even more than the first time around. In the meantime we tried seeing if we could install some of the cabinets that weren’t damaged so we could get enough put together to get our countertop measurement. Turned out there were only 3 Undamaged cabinets in our whole order! We stopped reordering damaged cabinets per the reps request because we were advised to speak to the managers and corporate first as this was clearly a very large issue. We went through all the cabinets and provided them with a picture diagram damage sheet of all the damages of the cabinets that we reordered as well as the cabinets that we hadn’t ordered for replacement yet. Some cabinets were scratched others had nails punctured through some even had blood on the inside! We contacted several individuals including corporate multiple times. We kept being told someone would contact us back and no one would. We had to keep calling and fight for over 3 weeks for someone to finally take us seriously. At this point we have been without a kitchen for over 2 months and due to not being able to cook and provide myself with proper nutrition I have no longer been able to breastfeed my 7 month old. My supply went down and unless I spend ridiculous amounts of money eating out every night I am struggling to breastfeed my baby and we haven’t been able to make our own baby food. I feel robbed of the motherhood experience I wanted for me and my child. Don’t even get me started with the struggle of having to wash dishes and try to sanitize bottles in a bath tub due to not having a kitchen sink anymore now. This company had the NERVE to offer 10%. 10% !!!!!! A total of 10% off for damaged cabinets ignoring the fact that they haven’t replaced the damaged cabinets yet.....ignoring the fact that their policy is 10 days for replacements and we’ve gone over 2 months without an official end date in sight...... ignored the fact that they shipped cabinets with blood in them and nails poking through and holes punctured and some that weren’t sprayed with color thouroughly....... only 10% for not being able to breastfeed my first and only baby anymore or the fact that we had to spend ridiculous amounts of money to eat and buy baby food because we can’t cook and prepare food at home anymore........ ignored the fact that even if they were to replace our entire order with all new cabinets we will have gone 4-6 months without a kitchen..... ignored the fact that once we do get replacement cabinets (IF we even do) that my husband no longer has the time off to install them himself anymore..... and ignored the fact that our Christmas was ruined and our families wasted their money coming all the way to Colorado from Wisconsin !!!!! They had the NERVE to only offer 10% and then added that they would waive the 300$ shipping fee which we didn’t even have the responsibility to pay for in the first place! I’m beside myself with anger right now. They think their offer is fair even though they’ve ignored that there are several more damaged cabinets that haven’t been re ordered or replaced yet and that we will have to continue going kitchenless for several MORE months. And it hurts me everyday I have to look at my baby feeling like I failed him because circumstances resulted in me no longer being able to breastfeed him and make our own home made baby food. It kills me to feel I failed him as a mom and I was robbed of that experience and bond with him. Their offer and idea of a solution was a huge slap in the face. They haven’t even began to order and replace all the cabinets that need to be fixed and by the time they do we will have gone without a kitchen for a total of upwards of 4-6 months without a kitchen. Their solution doesn’t even begin to cover the stress and pain we’ve gone through.... not to mention one of the replacement cabinets we have received so far was also damaged so we can’t even trust their integrity that the rest will be in good shape when they do arrive! The whole experience has hurt our family in more ways than I can even begin to describe. As a service member in the military and a mother of a 7 month old this has been the most stressful and frustrating experience I’ve ever endured. We eventually negotiated a fair price if we agreed to accept the damaged cabinets as is. Then when we tried to get our reimbursement credit we were shorted by hundreds of dollars. It is now March 22 and we ordered back in October. They will not return my calls or emails and Lowe’s has informed us that American woodmark will not give us the remainder of our money because they feel they have been “generous enough”. We had an agreement! You can make a deal with them and decide a month later to change the price and short us and steal our money because you didn’t feel like you had to honor your agreement anymore and you’re too chicken shit to even call us back! I am about to loose my shit! They made a deal and after over a month of waiting for our reimbursement they shorted us and don’t care at all they they went against their agreement. I warn everyone DO NOT BUY FROM AMERICAN WOODMARK they will deliver shitty products ..... give false promises..... steal your money ...and if you order from them be prepared to go 4-6 months without a kitchen! ]]> Mon, 23 Mar 2020 06:01:00 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Poor Quality, uneven stain, crooked drawers]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=751 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=751 Worse experience in cabinets orders ever. On the whole, they look nice, HOWEVER the cabinets at Home Depot had the drawer fronts attached to the drawer with 2 screws...our cabinets came with the drawer fronts attached by cheap metal brackets on the side of each drawer covered by a beige plastic clip. I hate it! It makes it look so cheap! It's not what was represented at our home Depot at all. With 44 drawers in the kitchen, we also wanted them to line up, but instead it looked like a zigzag. We called the company, but they offered no help, so my husband had to unscrew 16 screws per bracket and re-align them so that they would look level. So much time spent!! Finally the company rep came along with our Home Depot Salesperson, he told us that the plastic covered clip was an upgrade! Really? Plastic versus wood is an upgrade? He then offered us $150 to apologize for not letting us know that those zig zag drawers could be fixed by small adjustable rollers on the bottom of each drawer....I had called the company and they would not tell me that! There was no information in any of the boxes we unwrapped, and it took hours and hours to fix. Great help, guys. Over all, the cabinets look nice, but every time I see the plastic clips I grind my teeth. It shouts "CHEAP" He countered with "Even KraftMaid has these plastic clips, and it's an upgrade." Final thought, don't do business with American Woodmark. I'm still so disappointed with my new $14,000 cabinets. ]]> Sat, 28 Sep 2019 15:08:06 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: American Woodmark Poor Quality]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=722 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=722 I purchased two American Woodmark base cabinets, a 36" sink base and a 24" drawer cabinet, including upgrades, for the bath vanity for a bath remodel. Through Home Depot. On the American Woodmark site, they advertise 7-10 day shipping. My order took twice as long as their slowest delivery time, three times the fastest. From order date to first pickup availability at Home Depot was 24 days, pushing a month. The cabinets arrived not as specified: they were not 3/4 plywood, and they were not full plywood. I did not get what I ordered. Now I get another 30 days without a bath, nor a kitchen (my granite installers are very affordable but charge for a second installation, if I have to split the bath install from the kitchen install.) The cabinets arrived with construction defects. The 36" sink base, one entire corner, was not glued together. Had I picked it up by that corner when unpacking, it would have fallen apart. The cabinet also displayed defects in corner biscuit application. Triangular housing biscuits were installed with one one of the sides only very partially inserted in its opposing receiver slot. On the 24" drawer cabinet, the same defect in construction was exhibited. The triangular housing biscuits didn't even reach the opposing side of the corner and was completely out of its slot. The middle drawer facing was wrongly assembled off the drawer box. It leans out from the face. (It is not a slide adjustment.) Some part of the error, the order errors, the failed upgrades, may belong to Home Depot. But not sure how much. The first week of attempting to resolve, well, was full of deflection, getting passed around from the store unit to customer service then back to the store unit. Half a dozen emails not responded to. In 2008 I redid my kitchen with American Woodmark Cabinets. Cabinets arrived in acceptable time frame with no damage. When I installed them the faces lined up perfecty with no lippage. Color is consistent and we have not had any proplems with drawers or slides in 11 years. In Novemeber of 2018 we decided to put a center island in the kitchen and redo the bathroom cabinets in all three of our bathrooms. We were still able to get the same style and color. Kitchen island color matches perfectly. The only thing I wish I would have done differently in 2008 would have been to use the full face cabinets in the kitchen. I did use them in the bathrooms and the center island. I used the Newport style, cathedral, maple spice, and got the optional thick plywood sides on all exposed cabinets. There was no problem with the delivery. Everything I ordered arrived with no damage. The cabinets looked well when installed. After four years, I began to see minor telltale signs of delamination in the corners of some doors. Now, at five years, I can see (and feel) that the laminated finish has completely pulled away from the door facing. (I can press it with my finger and feel a void over the entire door.) These cabinets have not had hard usage, and have been cleaned carefully with mild cleaners. The cabinets exhibiting the most delamination are above and to the side of the stove. However, with a pot of boiling water on the stove, when I put my hand on the closest part of the cabinet, I feel almost no warmth. I have never wanted to test the self-cleaning feature of my oven for fear the high heat would affect the lower cabinets on either side, and I'm now glad I have never put this to the test! Although I say that 'you get what you pay for', I supposed I'd like to think that the lamination would be more sturdy for at least 10 years. Also, my cabinets are light color, and I would not recommend this for a busy household with children. The finger marks and grime do not easily come off. I don't typically use harsh cleaners such as Fantastic, but even when I tried it, it still took a bit of rubbing. They are definitely affordable ... but in my experience with most things, there is a real tradeoff in quality. ]]> Fri, 23 Nov 2018 15:05:15 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Don't Buy These!]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=659 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=659 My cabinets arrived two days ago. 17 boxes, 100% bad. Only 3 were damaged from shipping. The rest were extremely, extremely poor workmanship. No, lie it looked like they were built by a bunch of mentally challenged individual and I regret saying that because it's an insult to mentally challenged people. Cabinets were delivered on 12/20/17. I took the following 10 days off, so I could install them. Now not only can I not install them, we were left without a kitchen during Christmas and New years. Also, I lost all this time off and would need to take more time off when they get replaced in order to complete this. We contacted Home Depot and Woodmark. They tell us because of how bad they messed up, there is no way they can expedite them and it will be 3 to 5 weeks for replacements but they have to have rep come out and look at the cabinets first. Then they assigned it to a rep that was on vacation. so several days go by, we have to contact them again. Mind you I do not have a kitchen as it was torn down in preparation for the new cabinets. Finally they re-assign to someone else. And this person states they are going to send replacement parts and I would be responsible for taking the damaged cabinets apart and then putting them back together with the new parts. Completely ridiculous. I have asked on multiple occasions what Home Depot and Woodmark are going to do to make it right. As my family of five have had no kitchen and it has cost us even more money and aggravation because of their incompetence. I asked for them to send someone out and install them as I shouldn't be made to lose time off that I had dedicated for Family events, in order to install these because of their mess up. WoodMark has ignored all my requests for making the situation right for the customer. They just say "Sorry for the inconvenience". very insulting. Home Depot refuses to discuss any compensation until the new cabinets are in and installed and the project is done. So in other words, they want to guarantee that they dont have to send someone out to install them and even if they dont satisfy me, I will be stuck with the cabinets because once they are all installed, I would then need to uninstall them to return them. Real nice. So not only did they create a huge issue for me. Inconvenience me, Cause monetary, emotional stress and a huge inconvenience, now Home Depot is basically doing everything on their terms and they dont care that a customer is left hanging on, without a kitchen and with no path to any resolution. They just want to make sure they cover their own behinds by making sure I have very little recourse if they dont do what is needed to make this right. Home Depot is being very insulting, inconsiderate and self serving. All they care about is their bottom line and minimizing their liability, rather than trying to make it right for the customer. The estimated time between ordering and delivery was less than 2 weeks. The first delivery arrived 40% damaged with a combination of factory defects and damage during shipping. These pieces were replaced and the 2nd delivery arrived with the same 40% defect rate. At this point, the delivery team mistakenly took the non-damaged doors with the cabinet frames after they were instructed to leave them. After this second round of damage, a regional account manager stopped by and offered to have the next delivery inspected at the factory and shipped to us in "bomb-proof packaging". The 3rd delivery arrived with a 60% defect rate. "Bomb-proof packaging" consisted of a single piece of bubble wrap around the cabinet bases and nothing protecting the upper and lower corners. For example, the very thin (1/8" at most) shelves for pullout drawers with cheap wood veneer does not appear that it will support the weight of more than a single pot or pan--rendering them useless for most of our storage needs. The parts of the frame and door that are "real" wood are often dented, sanded strangely, and, in at least one case, split (not in transit). There are staple dents in all the interior doors. The paint job was poorly executed--e.g. many of the tops of drawers or doors are not thoroughly covered and one of the cabinets that will have an exposed side is completely rough. I had great expectations for my completely remodeled kitchen. We ordered new cabinets and spent a fortune for what we thought would be high quality kitchen cabinets. When the cabinets arrived we were highly disappointed with the quality of the cabinets, we contacted American Woodmark Corp and were told to contact the XXX XXX store where the cabinets were purchased. We than had to wait about a week for a representative from American Woodmark and XXX XXX to get together to arrive for their inspection. We were told lots of things like natural wood grain defects are normal, or you wont see these defects when the cabinets are installed, we agreed to return some of the doors and drawers for replacement. If these are things you want to hear after spending thousands of dollars than American Woodmark would be perfect for you. I would not recommend this company to anyone unless you like defects or less than perfect quality cabinets and don't forget about delays with your contractor's that were scheduled to install the cabinets the same week we were waiting for a home inspection. Expensive, poor quality, delays. Good thing they enclosed a crayon and concealer.

We recently purchased American Woodmark cabinets for a bathroom remodel. Big mistake as one of the base cabinets was totally missing the glue (cabinet coming apart when unpacking) on the back side of the cabinet and the back support rail on another cabinet was not straight (very bowed). I ended up repairing the cabinets so I didn't have to wait 6-8 weeks for another set of cabinets to be delivered. Several of the screws holding on the cabinet doors were loose when the cabinets arrived causing marring of the cabinet surface. Additionally, the linen cabinet came with no shelves, so back to retailer (again) to order shelves. The shelves arrived at the store 2 weeks later, via UPS, and the shelves were unusable (banged/dented corners) due to very poor packing and had surface scratches/dings which obviously happened at American Woodmark. So, back to retailer to reorder the shelving kit...still waiting for the shelves to arrive. I will never purchase nor recommend American Woodmark products in the future.

<![CDATA[American Woodmark: Customer service is lacking]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=473 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=473 I worked with Home Depot to order some cabinets from American Woodmark for a small kitchen remodel of my mother-in-law's cabin. We were told that if the cabinets were shipped to the store that there would be no extra charge but if we had them shipped to a home address it would be an additional $250. We asked if the cabinets could be drop shipped to a Home Depot closer to the cabin as we live a fair distance from the cabin and were working with the Home Depot in our area. That would make it much easier for us to get them up to the cabin and I really did not see any difference in whether the cabinets were shipped to one Home Depot or the other. The individual at Home Depot that we were working with was good enough to call American Wookmark and ask if it was possible to do what we were requesting without being charged the $250 additional fee. They were told that yes, it was possible but that they would need to get permission from the other Home Depot that would be receiving the order. Another call was made to the management of the other Home Depot and they graciously accepted to work with us and receive the order. Three days later I received a call from Home Depot saying that American Woodmark would not do as we requested without charging the additional $250. Wanting to understand the reasoning behind the change my wife called American Woodmark and was told that it must be Home Depot that changed their stance and that she would call and find out. When she finally called my wife back she indicated that it wasn't Home Depot that had changed their stance but was actually American Woodmark. She would not provide any explanation as to why that was the case and what difference it made by shipping to a different store rather than the one ordered from. All in all a very disappointing experience. My only hope is that the cabinets are better than the customer service. I fear I may be disappointed again though. ]]> Fri, 10 Jun 2016 00:38:18 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Good Experience with Woodmark return]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=465 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=465 We noticed a hairline fracture in the frame of a wall cabinet. I am getting more details from the contractor. We would like to have a representative make a visit to figure out how to fix these fast, before the countertops are installed. 1. One cabinet was missing a shelf (B36 BUTT FH ) (a replacement has already been shipped) 2. we are missing about 50% of the shelf support brackets needed to support the shelves. 3. we found 2 doors where the screws for the hinges were completely stripped, so the hinges do not stay attached. 4. The wastebasket pull-out tray is off about 1/2" (BWBT21-2 FH) Notice in the photo below, taken from the top looking down the side of the drawer front, the drawer is closed at the bottom, but due to the crooked angle of attachment, it is not closed at the top. Also just for the record, we would not mind a little smudge if everything else was right, but on top of all the rest of these quality problems, it only added insult to injury to have the brand new wastebaskets delivered with dirty smudges on them from handling with greasy gloves: 5. The tilt out tray on the sink base is also crooked (SB36 BUTT TO) The left hand side of the tilt-out tray is closed, the right side is still open part way, does not clse because of crooked mounting. 6. The glass front cabinets - the mullions are off of horizontal by about 3/8" (W3630 MFD BUTT)) You can see in the photo below the inner shelf is not parallel with the mullion. Either the shelf mounts are not straight,m or the door is not straight. The contractor reports the mullions are not square, 7. Two doors were damaged in shipping. A photo below shows one (W3612 X 24 DP BUTT) when the shipping box was removed. The other cabinet shows a hairline crack in the front panel, does not show up in photos (W3012 BUTT) So far, all the items highlighted in yellow below have shown defects, and the installation is not quite finished yet: Quantity PartName Description Options / Modifications 5 ACM8 8FT Angle Crown Molding 1 B18 18" Base Cabinet, 1 Door, 1 Drawer Furniture Ends, CushionClose Glide 1 B18 WTCD PROMO 18" Base Cabinet, Wood Tiered Cutlery Divider Furniture Ends, CushionClose Glide 1 B36 1TD BUTT 36" Base Cabinet, 1 Top Drawer, 2 Butt Doors Plywood Veneered Side, CushionClose Glide, All Plywood Construction 2 B36 BUTT FH 36" Base Cabinet, No Drawer, 2 Full Height Butt Doors Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction, Reduced Depth = 18 1 BILLING ADJUSTMENT BILLING ADJUSTMENT 4 BTK8 Base Toekick 1 BWBT21-2 FH 21" Double Wastebasket Base Cabinet, 1 Full Height Doors Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 2 DB30 30" Drawer Base Cabinet, 3 Drawers Furniture Ends, CushionClose Glide 1 DB30 30" Drawer Base Cabinet, 3 Drawers Plywood Veneered Side, CushionClose Glide, All Plywood Construction, Reduced Depth = 18 1 FP9634 96" x 34" Finished Paneling 1 SB36 BUTT TO 36" Sink/Range Base Cabinet, 2 Butt Doors, Plastic Tilt Out Tray Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 1 TB9 9" Base Cabinet, No Drawer Furniture Ends 4 UF3 3" x 30" Universal Filler 1 UF392 3" x 92" Universal Filler 1 UT1824 18" x 24" X 84" Utility Cabinet Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 4 VP-DROT18 18" Deep Roll Out Tray Plywood Veneered Side, CushionClose Glide, All Plywood Construction 1 VP-S1824 18" x 24" Single Shelf Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 1 W1230 12" x 30" Wall Cabinet, 1 Door Furniture Ends 1 W1830 18" x 30" Wall Cabinet, 1 Door Furniture Ends 1 W2430 BUTT 24" x 30" Wall Cabinet, Butt Door Furniture Ends 1 W3012 BUTT 30" x 12" Wall Cabinet, 2 Butt Doors Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 1 W3612 X 24 DP BUTT 36" x 12" x 24" Wall Cabinet, 2 butt doors Plywood Veneered Side, All Plywood Construction 2 W3630 MFD BUTT 36`` x 30`` Wall Cabinet, Mullion Frame Butt Doors Matching Interior, All Plywood Construction 1 WTCDK18 18" Wood Tiered Cutlery Divider Kit All the defects are on top of the utility cabinet being delivered late, so that it is not yet completely installed. First off, we ordered plywood cabinets, but one of the cabinets was not plywood. The problem with that is when the installers are putting in the cabinets, you don't have time to wait another 4 - 6 weeks for a replacement. XXXXX ended up refunding the difference. After the installation, we noticed that one of the upper cabinets was also a different style... the european style which doesn't have a front. Luckily, it wasn't that noticeable, but strike two. Finally, after a few months, we started to notice that the pantry cabinet shelves were starting to fall off the shelf supports. I replaced the plastic shelf supports with heavy duty steel supports, but the problem persisted. Upon closer inspection, we found that the cabinet sides were bowing outward. We had a finish carpenter try to shore up the cabinets, but that was difficult without completely removing the cabinet from the wall. He showed me that even though the cabinets were plywood, they were only 1/2" instead of usual 3/4" you would expect for pantry cabinet that would hold canned goods. Even our bathroom cabinets are 3/4". Noticing further problems with the upper cabinets, we are now in the process of ripping out these garbage cabinets and replacing them with a much better brand. Do yourself a favor, DO NOT BUY WOODMARK.. they are cheaply made junk. I wouldn't even consider putting these cabinets in my garage now. ]]> Tue, 10 Nov 2015 18:11:01 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Nice cabinets overall - kitchen]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=368 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=368 I purchased about 20k worth of cabinets for a kitchen remodel from XXXX. Actually the kitchen designer was nice and friendly there, but maybe not that experienced with kitchen design. With the XX design, I ended up going to another private kitchen designer who improved on the design, but whose cabinets were a bit on the expensive side (compared to XX, and similar quality rating), so I ended up going back to XXXX with the revised design. The XX designer also spent time with me as I made decisions regarding which trims and options to pick, as well as to take advantage of the promotions XXXX has. I ended up going with the Savannah style in the painted hazelnut glaze, with oil-rubbed bronze pulls, all-plywood with dovetail construction. When I received the cabinets, they were all packaged quite well (as in a lot of padding where needed), and I did not have any problems with any of the pieces when received. No damage, no missing pieces, and they were all in pretty good quality. A couple of the cabinets were slightly off in the joint, but nothing that wasn't fixable. I also had very experienced contractors to install them, which is extremely important when buying cabinets. In the end we ended up with a beautiful kitchen, and the finish of the cabinets was really nice. I can't vouch for the durability as it's only been about a month since the install was complete. So far so good though. It's very easy to blame the cabinet company for everything that goes wrong, but not always fair. I have some tips: 1. Don't depend on XXXXX to know exactly what you want, and verify everything before you buy. Make sure the trims, colors, etc.. match what you asked for. And also verify the measurements that were made of your kitchen - if it matters that they are an inch off then you should verify it yourself. 2. Do some reach about kitchen design and flows and try to make sure that other aspects of kitchen - e.g. where the appliances / sink are match your kitchen usage patterns. 3. Take advantage of promotions - if you are on the edge of a discount bracket, e.g. 19k, then it makes sense to order more options to reach the next bracket (i.e. 19k worth of cabinets gives you $2000 discount, but 20k worth gives you a $3000 discount). Also, at the time I ordered AW also had free plywood construction (or premium glaze) and another 10% promotion. 4. Very important!! Make sure you have reputable / experienced contractors to install the cabinets. They should know how to adjust and make your cabinets look perfect, and can mean the difference between feeling completely satisfied and feeling frustrated. ]]> Sat, 24 Oct 2015 04:27:54 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Misleading Farm Sink Cabinet Design *BEWARE*]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=326 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=326 If you plan/design to install a Apron Farm Sink using American Woodmark be aware of the misleading information they provide. I just bought all new cabinets for our kitchen and my wife wanted to install a apron farm sink. The designer and American Woodmark said they have a cabinet specifically for that kind of sink and fits "MOST" sinks. What they don't tell you is "MOST" farm sinks are 10 inches deep and there cabinet DOES NOT allow for that depth. We are now very limited since we need to find a shallow farm sink, I would say 99% of the sinks we have looked at will not work. If I would of know this misleading information provided by American Woodmark I would of went with at different cabinet maker. When I called customer service they put it on the designer(Home Depot) for not informing us that a standard sink will not fit in a cabinet advertised as a farm sink cabinet. The customer service rep at Amercican Woodmark has heard this before I am guessing because she said it's not there job to define "MOST" and asked what else I wanted, it was obvious no advise or help would be available. The value was outstanding compared to our Schuler kitchen cabinets. The finish and quality are no comparison to the more expensive Schuler cabinets so I am glad we did not put these in our kitchen. The construction seems fine. Our problem arose upon installation when we realized the center panel in the back of all the vanities were not included and should have been. This results in another delay while American Woodmark sends out a sheet of skin. Now our cabinet installer will need to make the cuts to fit these stock cabinets. We are unsatisfied with this aspect. These skins are 1/8 inch thick...the cabinet backing is so thin, it almost doesn't seem like real wood. The slow close sticks but we've been told this will loosen up as we use them. To qualify my comments, I am a Home Depot Kitchen Designer. I have designed many kitchens for my customers and the cabinet vendor I start with is the American Woodmark line. The reason is they offer more quality and value at a better price point. I know some of you may be thinking, he is biased, he works at Home Depot, he has to say positive things about American Woodmark. Not true, let me give you an example. When customers come in looking for a faucet and I ask them if it going to be used for everyday use, I tell them to consider any other brand except Glacier Bay and Pegasus, both are our brands. Why, because of the feedback that I have received from other customers. Glacier Bay and Pegasus are great for toilets and vanity tops, but not as much for an every day use faucet. I would provide my customers the same feedback on cabinets if it were true, but in my professional opinion, American Woodmark offers customers a choice on construction, door style, and finish that is in line with their budget. Ashland is at the low end in a thermofoil and also a painted finish. Savanah is at the high end in a stain or painted finish. I ask my customers what their budget is so I can help them get the kitchen they want and still be within their means. Some of the complaints were related to quality and construction. All of their cabinets start out as standard construction which means a solid hardwood face frame and door front, for the most part, with furniture board for the sides and shelves. I say for the most part meaning if a thermofoil door was selected then the door front would be an MDF profile with a thermofoil finish. If customers want to upgrade to a ply side or all ply construction, American Woodmark offers that option too. Did you know, through American Woodmark, if you have 10 cabinets or more you have a choice, depending on the door style, of getting either the All-Ply construction or premium finish for free!!! I have one kitchen now where that amounts to about $3500.00 off for choosing the premium finish, Linen, on a Reading door style. In all my customer is saving about $4700.00 with their order through American Woodmark. The other vendors we carry have other incentives too, but nothing close to what American Woodmark has to offer. On top of the vendor promotions, our Buy More Save More store promotion is also saving that same customer another $6000.00! That's over $10,000.00 on one kitchen order. When I hear you get what you pay for, I say you are absolutely right! You are paying for a product that offers choice and selection. As you pick roll out trays, crown molding, unique cabinet options, and pantry cabinets your order will reflect those choices. I know this first hand in our store, if there is ever any issue related to our products or services, we take care of our customers. I can say this with confidence because I have seen our store and company step up to resolve issues when they have been brought to our attention. New Years eve for 2014, 6pm to 8pm, I spent at a customer's home following up on an install issue with a shower door that was not installed by Home Depot. But, because they had purchased their kitchen and bathroom from Home Depot, I felt obligated to ensure that their concern was properly addressed. I spent about two hours taking the doors apart and rebuilding them correctly. In the end they doors worked properly and my customer was very happy with the service provided. I am letting you know that Home Depot does care about the products and services provided to you, our customer. I apologize on behalf of those associates, vendors, and others that have not lived up to your valid expectation of excellence. Woodmark has easily added two months delay to a major kitchen remodel project, and cost me tens of hours dealing with issues & returns, photographs and emails. Overall, the manufacturing quality is good (not great). A few items received with defects from manufacturing process, in once case a poor job of filler in a crack of the face of a door panel (should have never left the floor), but considering the number of items received, less than 5% of total. Consistency is another thing...cabinets frequently don't match each other or molding in finish or stain color (hue). Where they really fall short, seriously short, is packing, which is part of their quality, thus the single star rating and reduced rating for durability. They use minimal packing, resulting in a substantial number of items received damaged. I've had to have several pieces replaced more than once, three time in some cases, because the items were damaged in transit. Remember, three weeks for each replacement, so over two months now to get some drawers replaced (and still waiting for some missing rail kits). The company is good about replacing defective parts, just takes several tries to get ones that actually arrive undamaged, and hopefully with a fairly close hue and finish. Overall manufacturing quality is better than the low-priced Swedish retailer thats popular with college kids, but below the what the name of the company implies, American Woodmark. (My contractor writes "made in China" on all the damaged parts, which is quite a pile now.) Home Depot has been good about getting replacements, although there have been some frustrations dealing with them, sort of the normal stuff you put up with when working with Home Depot. That does not impact any of the ratings here. Recommend? No. If you're on a tight budget, find a way to stretch it or finance to go with something a bit better. If it's already a stretch, then be prepared for significant delays and time investment to resolve issues; my prayers are with you! ]]> Fri, 06 Jun 2014 05:26:55 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: owne/builder]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=226 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=226 These are great cabinets. The finish is even on all the faces, and while there are some darker marks on the wood, I think they are to be expected with a natural wood product. I purchased crown molding and leaded glass inserts as upgrades. One cabinet base arrived with the frame completely cracked; doors on two other cabinets were not square. We had to reorder these pieces, delaying our construction by about 3 weeks. The drawer hardware takes up too much space, leaving the drawers much narrower than I'd like. I built an island with two base cabinets; I wish I had used just one wide cabinet with one wide drawer on top. The two small drawers on the two cabinets are simply not wide enough for me. My 30" sink base does not have a center support piece on the front of the frame; instead, one of the doors has a piece of 1/4" wood extending out to cover the space between the two doors. It looks cheap and means you have to close one door before the other. By far, the worst problem has been the hinges. On the two most commonly used doors, the hinges have broken several times and constantly need tightening and adjustment. Each time I call, the company quickly sends a replacement hinge, but because this is a vacation rental property, I really can't tolerate broken doors. I see that the hinge model I purchased is now discontinued; I hope the newer ones are sturdier. I cannot recommend this cabinetry. Quality control is terrible, delaying construction. My kitchen looks great, but it requires too much maintenance. ]]> Fri, 18 Apr 2014 16:51:57 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: American Woomark not what you want.]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=197 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=197 Went to Lowes to start a remodel project of the downstairs. We ordered Cherry cabinets with a chocolate glaze, but when the cabinets were hung, the doors, or most have blemishes, cracks, smudges in the glaze, and dark spots. Even noticed saw chatter marks. Reordered the cabinet doors and when the new ones showed up they were as bad as the first. We had a company rep come to our house trying to tell us the glaze is hand wiped, which looking at the finish did not happen, and also saying that since this is natural wood some blemishes can be expected. We said to send new doors and be sure they are right. Now after three weeks still waiting. Also we had a custom cabinet installed for the pantry. 84"X36"X21" deep built in with 4 slide out drawers. The first drawers were 6" too short so reordering we got 21" deep drawers. This has been going on for 3 months and still do not have the job finished. They are the same quality you are getting in all cabinets purchased in store chains or private owned businesses. Face it, we are using wood species today from trees that are grown super fast, not like ages ago when a tree was naturally grown, so when you go to order cabinets, the same tree is being milled to make them. I would not recommend Home Depot or American Woodmark to anyone. ]]> Fri, 08 Jun 2012 16:04:16 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Not worth the money]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=142 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=142 We just remodeled our kitchen and unfortunate to choose American Woodmark cabinets. Delivery was no problem. However the cabinet boxes are not leveled, inside seams are not completely joined, leaving small slit between cabinet joints, the cabinet back it made of thin board and toe-kick seems to be made of card-board. The qaulity is so different than what we saw in the store. I cant believe we spend 10K on this junk. ]]> Mon, 07 May 2012 20:18:44 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: AWFUL]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=128 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=128 Redoing kitchen with American wood mark cabinets after being persuaded by home depot rep of the excellent quality. I am now going on my 5th delivery of scratched, broken, unfinished, uneven staining. I have been without a kitchen for over a month. Wood mark rep came to my home and made lots of promises....even told me my zebra striped cabinet was acceptable! No, it's not! Now I have to wait another 2 weeks for replacement cabinets. I would prefer to have them ripped out, get a refund, and go to a more reliable manufacturer. A lot of money spent for a tiny little kitchen and because of the poor quality of cabinets and the inability of the contractor to get the replacement orders right, my 48 hour job is now going on to 6 weeks. Buy another brand and go to a different installer. Can't really rate the cabinets except the first and last question.......haven't been able to use my kitchen yet. ]]> Wed, 29 Feb 2012 12:14:14 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: American Woodmark.... A review after ownership for a few years.....]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=126 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=126 American Woodmark "Somerset" come apart at the seams American Woodmark cabinets come apart at the seams. I bought my cabinets in 1998, 18 of them, from Home Depot. They look nice, were priced right at the time. Home Depot had to replace doors, sink base, because the wood had a lot of dark blemishes/spots, darker wood grain on them. I felt that I bought the cabinets on how they looked in the store display and in the book, but mine didn't look like that when I received them. That was fine since they sent new parts. We did the work ourselves with no problems. The thing is that after 10 years, I had a single cabinet almost fall off the wall because the "glued" seams just popped loose. Took it down and glued it completely to repair it since there was no remaiming warranty on them, and it's been fine. But now (14 years later),I have to take down 3 wall cabinets that are put together as an upright unit ( to hide a chimney) because the whole front has pulled away from the shelves, and the back seams had come loose as well. Other ones will need repair also. It's a big inconvenience. BUT they still look nice to look at them. If there's ever another time that I need cabinets, I'll look at a different manufacturer. ]]> Sun, 26 Feb 2012 20:58:19 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: Buy anything other than American Woodmark]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=108 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=108 Absolutely the worst! We own some investment properties and we have been involved in designing and purchasing well over 40 kitchens but had not used American Woodmark in over 7 or 8 years as their competitors always had the better deal and look for what we wanted to accomplish. We do higher end projects. Why we decided on American Woodmark for our personal home in Florida I will never know! The cabinet quality is the worst EVER! The color is completely off, it is suppose to be espresso, however, it looks like Cherry Java. The doors have spots and lots of blotches, the tops of some of the doors are completely differnt than the bottom half - same door and these blemishes are very noticable with and without the lights on in the kitchen. The cabinets arrived full of scratches, especially the doors and strangely it was on the insides as well as the outsides which was very weird. A couple of the doors do not have finish on the outsides at all. The doors are a completely different color than the inside fronts of the cabinets - which is also rough and it should be smooth. There are blobs of glue all over the insides of the cabinets - just really bad. Trying to get a rep out to look at the issues was another hassle, over two weeks and then they talk to you like you are stupid instead of taking credit for their bad craftsmanship/quality and to add insult to injury they said I was in the wrong because my contractor installed them and even though I was out of the country I was suppose to instruct them to QC them before they put them in! WTH? Come on American Woodmark, your company motto is CITE, are those just empty words or do they really mean something? Company up and take responsiblity for your poor craftsmanship! Save yourself the stress and sadness, go with another company, just as I wish I would have. ]]> Thu, 29 Dec 2011 20:05:42 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: best deal I ever made ]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=99 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=99 After a poor experience at their competitors {wrong lay out out of codes} , I settled at Home Depot Oakland 1007 , they were running special gave fresh measure a day later the purchase was made , all plywood and all the options , delivery was fabulous , upon inspecting each box could not even find a scuff mark , I really wanted too . very well packaged . they offer lifetime warranty,I could not have donme it at a better time the best value. Given my experience, I felt I had to weigh in on the positive side. I purchased my cabinets (20 of them) through Home Depot and got a great deal on them. They were installed by a private contractor. I have nothing but good things to say. The finish (including parts of the cabinets you don't see) and fit are uniformly perfect and all of the features function flawlessly. Home Depot didn't order a few things (shelves and pullout trays) for a couple of the cabinets. When we ordered these after the fact, they were processed and delivered quickly. When we discovered a few missing plastic parts, American Woodmark cheerfully sent them out at no charge. I paid up for full plywood construction, which I think is worth it. The only thing I can't comment on is the durability because we've only just completed the kitchen. Overall, I've had an excellent experience and am happy to recommend them. ]]> Fri, 16 Sep 2011 12:54:52 +0000 <![CDATA[American Woodmark: American Woodmark---stay away from them]]> https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=63 https://kitchencabinetsreviews.com/reviews/discussions/review.html?id=63 Just received our new American Woodmark cabinets...spent over $10,000 for cabinets for a very small kitchen...the quality of the cabinets is horrible...very cheaply made...cabinets not glued together, door finishes are poor.for the price that we paid, I would have expected more.
